I have been searching all over the net but have not been able to find an answer to my situation. I have one yellow and one red light which stay constant on the 360 while it is in use and powered on. They do not flash. Is there any concern of this?

Hmm im gona go out on a limb and say that one of ur lights is shorted and thats why its yellow. Because I was under the impression that the lights could only show green and red. So if I were u id assume that the light is red and look up the problem accordingly. But if not just call M$ and see what they have to say about it.

Actually when the unit is powered off but plugged into the brick there are 2 red lights. When I turn the power on I have one orange and one red. Pics are attached.

I just bought the unit off ebay last week and seems to be functioning fine.

Seems how you bought it off ebay are you sure it don't have a light Mod?I would just manually Check the error Codes if it Has problems. The way thats light up it has to have some type of mod I would think.

How do I check the error codes? If I remember correctly, the first time I used the xbox before I flashed it, I just had the green light and not the orange and red.

I also have not noticed any flashing patterns which I have been researching. The lights dont flash at all.

I have seen that first hand before.

It was in the process of swapping the red and green in a rol mod. Resistors need to be removed and points rewired.

If it were me who received that 360 and it played fine but the lights were screwed up, that's the first thing I'd check. The resistors are on the back of the rol board, so you'd have to remove the 3 screws and it just unplugs.

It could be something, sure. But like I said, that's where I'd start.

If everything appears to be functioning properly is this something that requires attention? Im not sure about the whole part on removing resitors from the board...

Those are actually 0 ohm resistors. They act more like jumpers. If someone started a red-to-green rol mod and gave up in the middle, the result would be the same as what you have (depending on how far along they quit).

I really couldn't say whether it'd have any adverse affects on the 360 in the long run or not, leaving it that way.

If there were missing resistors and them being 0 ohm, one could just jump the points with solder or a piece of wire.

And like I also said, it could be something completely different. I just wanted to say that this would result in problem you have. But there may be another reason, also.

If it's running fine I don't think it will throw out any error codes. But for the future if you have to check it you Do this.

Turn the xbox 360 on, and wait for the xbox 360 flashing lights. Press and hold the sync up button, which is a small white button, and while holding in the sync button press the eject button. The segments will now blink the first number of the code. Release the eject button whilst still keeping the sync button pressed. Press the eject button again and the segments will blink the second number of the xbox 360 lights secret code. Repeat the release and press sequence for a further two times to obtain the third and fourth numbers of the xbox 360 flashing lights code. The flashing segments are interpreted as follows to get the code number:
(a)All four lights flashing - 0
(b)One light flashing - 1
(c)Two Lights flashing - 2
(d)Three lights flashing - 3.

hmm i usually just cut the traces and then rewire the 4 points, like in this tutorial.

http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=596643

Maybe removing the resistors does the same thing but it's easier to just cut the traces.

Removing those resistors is the same as cutting the traces. It breaks the current along the same traces.

Yeah i realize that, it's easier to take an exacto knife for 2 secs instead of removing the resistors. I'm getting really good at smt soldering though, maybe i'll do it next time around.

x30 it sounds like someone tried to jump constant power to those leds kinda like the sickmods fader works. If you want it back to normal just buy a ring of light board on ebay they should be fairly cheap. Or if you want to go the cheap route take it apart and find where they modified it.

There is still power going to the rf board when the 360 is off.

.
I just float them off with solder. Same thing... it only takes 2 seconds. I do the same with the rf/controller smds. After I've removed them, I put them on a piece of paper and stick a piece of tape over top and save them.

oh i just throw them away, i float them and then wipe the solder and led on a damp piece of paper towel.

anyway sorta back on topic has anybody jumped the green and red points together so it makes orange? I was thinking about modifiying a halo edition with orange leds but this way looks pretty simple.

I did see a Halo edition on Youtube with orange. Don't remember if he said whether it was mixing the 2 lights or not.

Found it.

If the system is working fine id just be tempted to switch out the rol board with another one to to check if the leds act the same, if they do then its something with the system, if not then its either a bad mod/ unfinished mod.. can pick up a stock rol off eBay for round £10.

Could be something totally different though... anyhow hope this helps
