hi guys... i'm new to xbox and have my modded console arriving next week... in anticipation i've burned a couple games and printed the sticker-type labels that peel off and stick on the face of the disk..

but i've read some people think they are a bad idea?? perhaps with the heat builtup by the optical and the chance they could become detached ?

i'm wondering if anyone uses these type of sticker labels without problems... they look SO nice when you get a high quality disc scan you can print ! almost like the real thing..

i know there are some inkjets that can print right onto the disk but i don't have one of them nor do i have media that you can inkjet print right onto... so its either sticker labels or my black sharpie =/

Dont use them myself but i heard that they are not good because the disk becomes off balance when spinning. cant say this for certain though because i dont use nor have i looked into this recently so i could be wrong :)

stay away from the sticker labels. You should use only the sharpie exactly for the reason listed above. I only use a sharpie, and would recommend to only use it.

printable media is ok too, as long as you want to spend the money on a new printer, and printable media. NEVER use a sticker. that shoulda go for all media!

I use them, never had any issues stillon a release day console.

Might be fluke, fellows neato pack is the brand.

Positives:
Nice Look (but why should that matter? You play the game not look at it)

Negatives (possible):
Label peels off in unit.
Unbalance issues (create read errors).
Adhesive that is used may degrade the media quicker.

I am with the majority here. Don't use them. Either use a sharpie to label or use printable media.

hrmm well i made an interesting discovery today... i actually own a printer that CAN print directly onto disks... but due to patent infringement canon disables this functionality on printers sold in the US.....

i found out about it by some site on the web. there was this black plastic shield blocking the place where you would insert media. so i popped the plastic piece off and now the port is open but you need to buy or make a CD/DVD tray cause they don't include it.

very strange if ya ask me. i think i'm gonna order a tray off ebay just so i have this functionality... but its interesting beladya actually uses them no problems... i'm not sure what i will wind up doing
