I installed a wiikey V3 and was successful, I got another wiikey V3 and tried another system. Yes, I checked compatibility with serial tracker and followed the correct steps. Once installed, it only reads regular wii games, none of my burned discs work not even the update and the GC config discs. I've read this forum for 2 days now, and can't figure out what I did wrong. Is it possible that my wiikey is bad? or did I just miss a step? Thank you
By V3 you mean the wiiclip V3? If so then make sure the clip is seated properly and pressed all the way down.
Also, the serial tracker isnt 100%. But it does say on the chip that the wiiclip attaches over what chipset it is.
If it's neither of those then there is a chance that its bad firmware or the firmware is corrupted or wasnt installed properly. You can try the recovery disk, that should fix it if is a firmware issue.
Barring all that it is possible to get a bad chip. Its rare but it does happen occasionally.
Thanks it wont even read the recovery disc, I hope I'm doing that right. I had the image file( wii recover disc 1.9b) from a previous download from my other system and it worked on that but it isnt even recognized on this system. Also, my other clip came with an authentic hologram sticker and this one didn't.
The recovery disk isnt recognized, you just put it in the system and let it sit for awhile.
Its possible you got a defective or bootleg chip and/or clip, you seem to know what you're doing and it sounds like you've done most everything that can be done. I'd try the recovery disk again and make sure the clip is seated properly, but other than that I'm not sure what to tell you.
Obviously it has to be in the hardware. What version drive do you have for the second wii? Its that or he set the clip wrong on the chip and popped a few of the pin guides. You only have a few chances of actually laying the clip correctly before you're forced to solder. Look at the leg guides inside the clip and if any are bent or broken, get your soldering gun out.
