ok just flashed it m28 hatachie. i loaded dashboard after flash, it worked perfect. I burned a fable 2 disk to a dual layer dvd. poped it in it took a while to load. It loaded the lion head thing and then the other company that made it. Then the xbox froze. I reset it. 3 red rings!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wtf could it be and how do i fix it. i just blew 200 on this and i got 2 seconds out of a game, those 2 seconds being a lion head symbol and a microsoft studies emblem.

YESSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Towel trick worked. im going to have to get a permenant fix though. the x clamps switched off or something.

Still un believable 2 minutes of a gameplay and red ring. Im leaving it off all night to let it fully cool down.

Did you just buy this 360? Because I would have suggested returning it to the store before trying something like the towel trick, that is just going to make returning it much more difficult.

If you would have read my post, i ripped it open, voided the warranty and flashed the drive. and i have no problem hiring someone to fix my x clamps for a perminant fix. i was just making sure it wasnt hardware problems.

not true, if you overheat the gpu after doing the xclamp replacement like in llammas tutorials and you keep the console cool afterwards you will have a fixed console for much longer than 3 months. My first rrod xbox that i sold was like 10 or 11 months ago and still works perfect to this day. I'm not saying it's a 100% solution but for the majority it's the best one out there. If you understand computer architecture, and how everything works you better understand how to keep the rrod from comming back.

I'm opposed to buying a new console simply because i know it already has a design flaw. If the 360 was a car it would be declared a lemon and recalled. I really think if you cut the metal mesh from in back of the fans it drastically improves your chances of having a dependable console. You wouldn't think that metal mesh would restrict the air flow as much as it does.

so there's my .02 cents

Actually, I did read your posts, apparently you didn't. You never said anything about having "ripped it open". Also, you are obviously new here so I will warn you that your "WTF" "help me now!!!" attitude isn't going to get you any help from anyone and will probably end up getting you ignored if not banned. So change your attitude, be more descriptive, and read your own posts before you spout off to people who are trying to assist you. Also, for future reference, it is possible to keep your warranty sticker intact by heating it up with a blow-dryer before you peel it off, rather than just ripping it open.

Just to clarify, I didn't say that MS doesn't care, because I'm sure that they do. But I did say that they don't always check it. Also, with that being said, I wouldn't just NOT have one (warranty sticker). When I sent my console in with a broken warranty sticker, I had taken an exacto knife, cut right along the openings beneath the warranty sticker so it looked extremely clean. I could open the console, and close it back up and unless you looked closely, it looked completely intact. I had then got the rrod, sent it in, and 2 weeks later got a refurb.

Now, it IS possible you will get a tech who will care, and will send yours back without getting a refurb or being fixed. I don't know if what happened to me is pretty much what always happens (MS not really caring that much) or if I just got luck of the draw with a tech who didn't care. Either way, it made sense to send it in because the worst thing that would happen is MS would just send it back exactly as it was.

End points:

You always run a risk when you open the 360 for future warranty repairs.
Always use an exacto knife if cutting the sticker, use the hair dryer method if removing the sticker, or if you destroy the sticker, probably is a good idea to get one off of ebay.

it could be that live found out that it was burnt and it then just gives you the RROD that happened to my freind and he did the towel trick 13 times until it just didnt seem to work again
just make sure that the waranty is still there and send it back to microsoft and they give you one free
