I was interested in modding my 360 a while back, but didn't due to the complexity, and now it seems to be a lot easier. I have a 360 with the MS25 Toshiba DVD Drive, and I saw the Xecuter Blaster 360, is this the only thing I would have to buy for my 360 to (easily) play burnt 360 games?

And about burning 360 games, do I need a specific DVD drive on my PC to burn them (if I'll be doing it through the Xecuter Blaster 360)? What software do I need to burn the game properly (and play it online too)?

And I'm sorry if these questions have been answered multiple times, but from what I've seen there's so many different types of everything that I wouldn't know where to start or what to choose.

you don't need that Xecuter Blaster 360

MS25 is a very easy drive to flash ... there are tutorials around for this ... install the latest iXtreme by flashing it

no you dont need a specific drive... as long as it can burn DL disks...

Thanks for the help!

And I know I don't need the Xecuter thingy, it would just be easier than opening up my 360 every time I need to flash it, unless somebody can direct me to an alternative.

And will the software provided in the first guide on burning 360 games be sufficient to play online without being detected/banned?

it's really not that big of a deal to open the 360 to flash the drive. I've done it every time I need to update the firmware. I'd rather just spend 5 more minutes to open it than buy the extra hardware.

To read more on flashing, download textbook's guide to flashing the 360. (www.360mods.net)

So if I'm not going to buy that kit, what cables (if any) do I have to buy to flash it on my computer? And can I use that same cable/method to rip 360 games to my computer?

The guide is in both places. I gave the link for the main homepage so any questions could possibly be found on there.

Back to magus...

When I wanted to flash mine, all I did was buy a via 6421 pci card for my pc. It came with drivers and a couple sata cords, and that is all you need (minus the obvious like getting the firmware). SO hardware wise, you would be set. All it would be is opening your 360, and connecting the drive to the card with a sata cable.

So would I also be able to read 360 games to my PC using that same method? I don't want to buy another DVD drive if I don't have to.

I would purchase the kreon drive. It is worth it. If you're going to get started in this backing up of games, be expected to put some money forth initially. It will give you the best results though.

Okay, thanks for all the help. However, I think I'll wait until the dashboard update and see if modding is still possible (maybe they'll ban modders or provide some patch against the firmware, I dunno).

the modding will still be possible, it's the ban hammer that possibly could happen. I would say it's a smart thing to wait until the new dashboard.
