Like gow2 i have to eject put and close again sometimes 2wice
I had to restart the system once it says "unplayable disk" no scratches on game, do you know of any reason why this may occur? the game is a backup and all others work well except dead space which has not read since i 1st started it

bad rip, bad burn or bad laser. Pick your poison and test them out. If it works sometimes, you can rule out bad rip.

bad burn most likely as all others work fine perhaps laser but im not sure yet, you are very helpful btw all my questions are usually answered by you.

What type of discs are you burning with? I had the same issues when I used memorex discs but when I switched to Verbs all my problems vanished. It was amazing.

it's not bad burn of the disc. it's ur dvd lasor it's getting wore out. u need to replace it with another dvd drive.. i have the same problem now and i alrady purchased a new xbox 360 drive from ebay and it's on the way here..

I believe you can buy replacement laser kits for the 360 pretty cheap. I think someone told me it was under 10 bucks and wasnt very difficult to replace.

I don't know if you could immediately say that it is a bad laser. Although it can be very likely, personally, I like to test the other issues first, as they are cheaper to do than immediately going to buy a new laser (when it really might be the media[burning on memorex, not verbatims] for example).
But if nothing else works, then I would agree, laser is the next thing to take out and try a new one.
And no prob, glad to help out. I have no problem whatsoever helping people who try things and putting effort, rather than those who just ask a question that has been answered right below their post. Anyways, hope it works. Keep us informed.

sorry guy john alyways jumps the band wagon to soon. guesswho is right check the small stuff first. it might even need to be re-flashed. there are alot of things to look at first before a new laser.

I tested all my media that worked in the past and they seem to work fine, I need to know if the burn is bad, what is the proper method of testing? Also is $50 for a new modded drive installed on my system be a good price?
I use Verbatims which was suggested to me here previously
I burn at 2.4x, and the disks are clean. just making sure though, saint row far cry fallout 3 all work fine how do I compare these two to each other and determine if the burn is bad?
Dead Space just doesn't read "unplayable disk" and I have to try 2 or even 5 times for gears of war 2 too work, gears loads then plays flawlessly.

well if all your other backups work without a problem, but those two don't, I would then think it is something dealing with those two backups, not a problem with all your media or dvd drive/laser.
Do you have a friend who has a flashed 360 you could try those trouble games on? Have you stealth checked them to make sure that they are properly stealthed?

hey i have a question, if the lazer on the len is dirty, can i clean it with some acholcol and q -tip? will it damage the len more? because if it works, i dont need to buy a new xbox 360 dvd drive.

I already purchased the new xbox 360 drive from ebay. i just want to be on the safe side so i bought the whole dvd drive besides the len. who knows, it might not be the len.
