I just bought a NEW Wii this weekend, so Im new to this Wii stuff. I just need some quic help.

I see you can get Wii channel's anh I've herd of the homebrew channel. How does the quality look on them and is it easy to put on the Wii. Also Im not looking to MOD this system.

Any help I would greatly appreciate it.

The homebrew channel is a good channel, but it is fairly hard to install and it may brick or not work after a new system update from nintendo.

I wouldn't recommend it.

Well I dont have it hooked it up to the internet or plan to use the internet on it so I wouldnt see how I would get the new updates. Theres a guy here in town that can install the Homebrew channel, so wouldnt have to mess w/fixing it up. He charges $40 to do it. I also have 2 or 3 year, (cant remmember)warranty w/Best Buy.

Would I still get the updates even if I dont have it hooked up to the internet and what do you think about that price. Says he only takes about 15-20min to do it.

What are you talking about? The homebrew channel is easy to install. Theres several guides here on afterdawn. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/706332

@hack01

The homebrew channel is pretty much a boot launcher for homebrew applications. If the hombrew channel wasn't available you would have to boot all applications via Twilight Princess hack.

Once the Homebrew Channel is installed you can create a apps folder in the root of an SD card directory. Then you place the applications (in their own folder) in the apps folder.

EXAMPLE OF DIRECTORY: root://apps/wadmanager/boot.elf or boot.dol

Now when you launch the Homebrew Channel the wad manager application will be listed in the Homewbrew Channel list for you to select and launch. This bypassing the Twilight Princess hack step every-time you want to boot an application.

It is not hard to install and I wouldn't pay $40 to install something that will only take 5 minutes to install.

If you have an original copy of Twilight Princess then you can do it. If you don't have an original then instead of paying the guy $40 you might as well go rent or buy a retail/used copy of the game and do it yourself.

If you do buy a retail copy reply back and I will walk you though the steps of installing it. Matter of fact if you tell me what region your Wii system is I can set up the files that will be placed on the SD Card for you and upload it. All you would need to do is transfer the files over to the root of the SD card.

I would think U for USA, since I bought here in Texas, but I can look @ it when I get home.

Thanks for helping me out w/the set up. I think I will rent the game.

Also wanted to ask you if you know if the Homebrew work good or are they slow and distorted.

Replied to your PM. As long as you haven't updated with the latest firmware a few days ago you should be good to go by following the steps in the PM I sent.

the new update is still 3.3U but that update only came out a few days ago. If it has been a while since you updated then it is still probably the original 3.3U firmware without the latest addition to it.
