I just bought a new xbox today and a xbit chip. I installed the chip using the washer and lined everything up. I ran the flash program and installed the bios evoxm7 in bios slot 5 256. I put everything back together and when i turn on the xbox it comes on, then shuts off, then comes on then shuts off then comes on and the green right around the power button flashes red and nothing comes on the tv screen.
please help
Thanks

You have the right bios installed, but think your right when you say that it means that it isn't finding the bios. its solderless, so try pushing down on the chip and power on your xbox to see if it will boot correctly.

Yeah i removed the write protection piece. I keep removing the chip and repositioning it, but it's right where it needs to be. It has to be something in the bios.. it's like it can't find one. the xbox comes on turns off, comes on, turns off, comes on and then the light around the eject button flashes red.
please help

Have your dipswitches set to bank 4. Some idiot made a post (on a different site) about flashing bank 5 and it was a typo. Bank 4 can only hold (2) 256k bios
On,On,Off,Off : Dipswitch settings for bank 4
Since you probably did not write to bank 4, you don't have to erase. If you want, you could format the chip.
Use the same M7ef twice, don't use different ones.

i bought one and installed it this weekend past.thought i had everything right and got a green light.no good.went round and round.found that the location with the 2 rows of solder points either were corroded or had some type of clear coating.lightly scraped with a razor blade.wiped with q-tip and alcohol.put board back in place, booted backup game.
