all you have to do is open up your 360 take out the dvd drive, open it up, and there should be 3 screws holding in the laser (make sure to remember how many turns of the screws it takes before they are out to ensure you put in the way it was before) undue the cable on the laser, and see which model it is. get on ebay and buy that model number. once you get the new laser there will be an antistatic point on it, you will have to remove it (either use a soldering iron, or just heat up a screwdriver and use it (this is what i had to do at college since my soldering iron was at home)). and then reinstal the laser and hook it back up.

I am currently in the process of replacing my Benq (Philips) laser, but I really need help locating exactly where I am supposed to desolder. The only tutorials I've found that claim to be for the Benq...aren't. They clearly show something with an orange circuit board (and a different shape) whereas the Benq laser has a green circuit board. If anyone has pics or can specifically indicate what point(s) I need to desolder that would be helpful.

hi, just sucessfully changed my laser, the desoldering point is a blob of solder right next to the white ribbon cable slot ,as far as i could see this is the only bit of solder on the laser, when you have removed this you will see 3 dots underneath when you see them it is mission accomplished.
