I have had my xbox moded from a friend for a couple of years so i don't know much about the way it was done except that it was a firmware mod. Now i want to go online and i have check the .iso of the games three different ways to make sure they are stealth patched, should my firmware of my xbox 360 be update or will that not matter for getting banned on live. Please help and Thanks in advance
there's always a chance that you can get banned with a modded console. and there's opinions on both sides of the issue from different posters.
the safest way is to have the stealth files in play with the latest firmware. i'm not sure what firmware's and versions there are out there but alot of people here will know.
also, there's an update coming out in november which nobody knows how it's going to effect modded consoles. always play at your own risk.
Thank you for that first post. Now is there a way to check and see what firmware i am running without taking it apart and is there a site or a thread on how to update it. I am a noob at xbox360 but i am very familiar with pc and updating firmware on there.
Like cawkfour said you want the most up to date firmware, which is currently ixtreme 1.4. There are different versions for each drive, and also different methods for flashing different drives. You can find tons of information on the net and on these forums alone (plenty to do it yourself).
However as cawkfour also mentioned there i a new dashboard update coming, and people are worrying about the banhammer being removed from its slumber. If i were you i would wait until about a month after the update (or until there is a new firmware) to go on live with a modded console if you haven't already. If you've waited this long you can wait another 1-2 months. Also get as much info ahead of time as you can, like checking your drive version. Start by ejecting your tray and comparing to the images of the other drives. Next read up on the methods for flashing that drive (tons of tutorials out there). Its not as hard as it seems, although at times can be frustrating, but if your prepared with the knowledge and tools it is fun and great to know how to do.
Honestly though i don't know how you've waited this long live is amazing.
But as always good luck with whatever path you choose.
i dont know how I have been waiting this long i didn't know it was possible until now, plus how about if i don't install the new dashboard when it comes out, how is that going to effect me?
I'm not sure if it will let you on live w/o the new update, it might kick you off and say update required. However i am not positive on this. But even if you don't update, if they update their method for finding modded consoles you may still be at risk with a modded console on live.
