I have a problem hacking my X-box 360 and im wondering if you have help me.
My 360 is a Samsung ms-28 and i have been following Textbooks guide to hack. I have the following Sata card installed: "VIA VT6421A". I have it hooked up to the 360 through the Sata cable but when i put in the command: "SamRead Serial Number" from my firmware. It comes up with 2 drives (IDE or something). None of which is my Sata card.
I thought the problem was incompatibility issues between my Sata Card and Computer since my Bios wouldnt recognise a USB as a boot device, so i had to use an NTFSCD, but ive used 2 seperate computers and it still shows the same problem(s).
Be sure that all the other drives are unplugged from the mobo. Also be sure that your drive is on and plugged into the first SATA slot usually marked SATA0. Also are you using prep? I'm assuming maybe not b/c i thought the command for that was dSam or something like that w/the serial number.
If you aren't you could try using that, and either way make sure when you prepare your boot device/disk you have the right chipset selected. It really is much easier if you can get your usb to work, try a different one if you have it, and try multiple usb ports. I know that was the hardest part for me to get working, and i know other ppl have had problems with this. I also read somewhere that it needs to be less than 4gb (or maybe it was 1), however i do not know how valid this is, since in my opinion it is just seen as a drive so it shouldn't matter.

I didnt have my drives unplugged no. And I'll have a closer look and try to plug it in the right slot when i plug my Sata cable in. I didnt really pay much attention to what slot i put it in, i just knew it had to be an internal one.

I was in the process of creating a bootable usb using iprep but i came across a webpage saying that i-prep doesnt really work for ms-28s and that bad flashing using Xtreme Boot maker was the only way to get it done.

The problem i had with the usb is when i went into the Bios and configured the boot device, it had: USB-Zip, USB-HDD, etc (yeah, shows how shit my bios is). I didnt know which one was the right one to use so i tried each one but none worked.
Also when i had my USB stick plugged in during booting, the boot process froze and wouldnt continue. And then when i unplugged it, it continued again.

Well as far as the ms-28 and iprep not working i'm not too sure about that. But i recently did a samsung w/iprep and the only problem i had was not having my nforce mobo, and having to rely on an older via chipset. The problem was getting the usb to boot, and recognizing the drive. I don't remember exactly what i did, i know i had to reflash the i-prep once. As far as the usb i think its supposed to be usb-hdd.
Try to have the most recent version of iprep, and select make bootable and the right chipset when you prepare the usb. Also have the drive on and plugged in before you turn the computer on. Also have all those other drives sata and ide cables unplugged. if you get it to boot, and get it to recognize the drive, but it hangs up you can try cycling the power on the 360. also make sure you have dumped the firmware before you even attempt to flash it.
It may get frustrating with little things like that where it seems you've tried everything, but don't give up. good luck.
I have ms28 and I used iprep. Just completely follow the guide. It is very easy to follow, and if you just follow it, you will be able to flash the console.
