I'm not sure if it's been posted before... I've looked for hours on end with no luck... Is it possible to play burned backups on an Xbox 360 Elite with a BenQ drive without having to open the system and flashing the Firmware?

I understand there is a certain burner that is required for it even with the flashing. But, I don't want to risk opening my 360 and having the ROD like my previous 360.

If there is such a way to play burned games w/o opening it would someone give me details on how to do it? or at least point me in the direction of finding out how?

short answer no ... you need to modify the drives firmware and thats impossible from outside the case.

regarding your RRoD fear though... you can use a hair dryer to remove the warranty sticker... that way if you do suffer a RRoD you should be able to seek out warranty service...

an no a certain burner isn't required it just can't be LITEON... and you can confirm this by removing the faceplate and checking the visible wires... that won't affect your warranty at all...

well... the main reason i asked was bc i found a website (can't remember the specific site at this point in time) that said it wasn't necessary to flash the drive, so in turn not necessary to open the system. So I tried to burn the game I was trying and it didn't work, so i figured i'd ask b4 just ripping the system open w/o consulting.

I thank you for ur advice with the sticker as well. Unfortunately, about half way of the sticker coming off w/o a problem i slipped and ripped part of it off w/o the glue drying so now i have a void warranty. So, for now i have to make sure i dun over heat the system to the point of RRoD.
