Think of the board as a controller. It controls all the electrical component attached to it. If you have the exact same drive and the same board and you switch them, no you won't have to flash it. It won't see the hardware and anything else as different. 3.3v is 3.3v and the laser is the same laser as far as the xbox is concerned.

This is the part we were commenting on. If it won't read the games or anything you can just get a new laser. It's easy to replace and costs maybe 1/5th the cost of a new drive (i don't know how much drives are). Anyway you could have just replaced the laser and that would have solved the problem.

ok so then if I switch the boards fromm old drive to new drive I won't have to flash right?. now what about it playing backups? it's it just like the old drive? the board is already flashed and I can play back ups? now if I decide to restore to stock fw because of the update I can just restore the board to its original? right???as if was like to old one it's just the same thing as the old one but with new hardware?? Am I correct. just trying to get it clarify

Noamos Is there any chance of me buying the Board from your new drive as you wont be using it i ordered a new drive from ebay but it was a con as the drive is bricked Please sell me your board
