Hi guys.
i read through 'Wii Firmware Updates, Wii and WiiKey Resources'
and im a bit confused.
firstly i have just installed the wiikey and i suppose i will need to update it.
the guide gives links to 1.9s which is on the wiikey website. and then further down the post it gives links for 1.9b and 1.9g which im a bit confused about.
then there is the talk about having to update to 1.9g to make SMG work.

and it gives links to the config disk version 1.3 even though the website hosts version 1.9!

is this because only that config disk will work or is the thread just slightly out of date.

also what recovery disk image do i need to download there is links to the 1.9b but will that change the firmware on the wiikey to 1.9b and then i will have to update again to the latest?

so which config disk do i need to use and do i just update the wiikey to 1.9s?
thanks guys,
regards,
Mubs

1.9b and g are old firmwares. Use 1.9s. Any references you see to old firmwares/config disks are because the thread is old.

And you dont actually need the config or recovery disk. The config disk lets you adjust the read speed of the wii drive and turn region override on or off (its set to off by default.

The recovery disk is only used if the chip stops working for some reason.

yes - you do need the config disk - it's the only way you can specify how you want your wiikey to operate incl region overide after you install the 1.9s update.

when you load the config, it'll show up as a gamecube disk - click start and the options will be there.

hi mate - you need to read here: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/597460 but basically, you do the 1.9s, then use 1.4 config. read the link through, because the wii does a test run when its updating and a lot of people think its done before its finished. you'll also find links to the images you need fo rthe update/config. good luck. momer

Exactly what he said above. Just because the wiikey version is at 1.9, the config disc is only at 1.4 They don't have to both rise incrementally, as there only needs (usually) be a change in the version number when changes are done. Obviously more changed have been done to wiikey firmware than the config disc. So just use the latest one hosted on the wiikey site and you'll be set.

So if I update the wiikey from 1,9b to 1,9s do I still need to run the config disc afterwards? And if so, is 1,3 "enough" or should I get the 1,4? thanks
