Well I have gotten the RROD for the 3rd time now, and I got my friend to fix it for me again, but it broke within 10 minutes after I got home.. I got it back up working but it sounds really quiet when I turn it on, but the games will boot, It sounds as if the fans are not working? Anyone know of this as a problem?

I have the nyko intercooler but I think I need to replace the interior fans. When I take the nyko off it makes almost no noise at all you can pretty much only hear the game spin. Any advice on what I should do? If I need to install new fans is this difficult, and what are the best kind to put in? I dont feel comfortable with the stock ones, they have failed 3, wait this makes 4 times for me. Thanks !!!!!

i dont hear my fans running but they are. how could you with the amount of noise the drive makes? if your friend can fix rrod then you should have him install the fans. but i am curious what exactlly is your friend "doing"?

You should be able to hear the fans when the 360 starts up. Start up the 360 without a disc in and see if you can hear the fans. If you can't then take a flashlight and shine it into the back where the fans are, you should see them spinning. If you don't see them spinning you are going to have problems.

Usually fans don't just stop working, they'll get loud and grind and then quit. If you don't have any voltage running to your fan connector you're going to have to jump power from the board to the fans.

It might be as simple as installing another fan, but odds are something worse happened.

So if you don't see, hear, or feel the fans running then let me know and we'll go from there.

Well, I think the fans are running, I can hear a click from behind them and when I first turn it on i can feel cool air flow out of the back. But still no noise??

When the box was workin fine it was so loud I had to turn my tv up to hear it, now I can hear it just fine. I just assumed the fans made the noise but if its the drive then how are the games working if its not working? I dont mind it quiet but I feel like its gonna do more damage if I play it.

Mine runs 10F degrees above room temp

Anyway you should probably take it apart and see if the fans are actually moving. One could have stopped and you wouldn't be cooling either the cpu or the gpu. You can easily replace the stock fans with aftermarket ones and your console will run cooler.

Anyway take it apart, see what's going on in there and let me know.
