I'm talking to a seller of a PSP slim, he bought it about 6 months ago. Is 6 months far back for it to not be Pandora proof?

Thanks :]

Any slim, aside from the new PSP-3000 can be enhanced to run homebrew and play games etc from the memory stick.

Isn't that the mobo that's in the psp-3000? Or is it the TA-90? In any event, all of the slims I have encountered including the blue madden pack slim have been able to be modded

yea the 3000's use the ta-90s and the new TA-088v3 boards only come in 4.xx+ and copyright year of 2008 and apparently cannot run firmwares under 4.xx.

The TA-90 is the mobo used in the new psp-3000 which according to a few articles I have read will be able to be modified soon with some adjustments made to the current pandora setup (ie:software patch) However, the psp-3000's battery will not have the capability of being converted to a pandora battery.

So they must have mixed in a few oddballs to try and throw people off. I also read that psp-2000 with a letter "G" on the box code is the one to avoid (TA-088v3)but that could just be mumbo jumbo-

I wonder if its just the later shipments of the blue madden pack psp-2000, or if they have some of the piano black, or the GoW red psp's in there too..But like I said every one I have encountered has been able to be modified including the blue ones. Lucky I guess.

All psp slims have the letter G, the poster of that article was silly. G means you have a slim, therefore you may have a v3, or a v1 or v2.

I have heard elsewhere that some psps cannot be hacked, if you guys can confirm all of them can. I'd really appreciate it, considering the cheapest slim is $120 and the hacked one is $160.

@OmniChi -To answer your original question of "Should I Buy?" the answer is yes, you should buy. Are you still in contact with this person you have been talking to about the psp? If so, let him/her know you are interested in buying their psp. The one you are talking about should be safe.
Also, depending on your location, you can look on craigslist for used psp's as well-I have seen plenty of them on there for sale that have already been modified. I would just stay away from the blue madden pack psp to be safe though, as some of them have the TA-088v3.

This isnt anything new to the psp community-very reminiscent of the old days of fat psp's and the TA-082 motherbaords that would brick if you tried running a downgrader on it-Or trying to find a psp that did not have a firmware higher than 2.50/2.60 so you could dowgrade it..Just give it time-those TA-088v3 motherboards will be cracked soon enough.

Ok, thanks a lot. You've been really helpful :] I'll check on craigs list also.

I do remember the old TA082! I remember you could check if it had a 082 motherboard by opening the UMD door and looking for certain digits.

He's selling it for $160, if anyone can find me a better price I'd appreciate it.

$160 is too much for a used slim-unless it comes with a bunch of games and accessories. I would keep looking.

You're right, it only comes with a 4gb mem stick. I found a local guy that's selling one for $125, and it includes a 2 gb mem stick, and a UMD game. Thanks for that suggestion :]
