I just finished watching a video on IGN about installing games on the
x box 360 for "quieter x box 360's" using the new "xbox experience" dashboard that is coming out soon....

Now what type of security will they use to insure that we dont borrow games from blockbuster and install them on our hard drive, or install the games then transfer them over to our PC from our 360 hard drive?

And I am sure this will open another opportunity for xbox 360 modders/hackers to breach whatever security MS decides to use and will let us install the game

Well first of all, you will need the disc inside to actually play the game. If you take the disc out during gameplay then an error will pop up asking you to put it back in.

Homebrew on the 360 is pretty bare so having a way to play the game without the disc is not possible....or that's how I see it. Maybe there will be a way. Only time will tell.

Yeah I read up more on it last night and it does seem kind of a waste, its like you said you need to have the disk in to play...Maybe they will find a way to put a "hacked" disc in or something and make it run without the actual game

there definitely are benefits to having it load from the hard drive. I would agree it''s not a waste. Now am I going to do it, probably not, but for some, it is definitely worth it.

it doesnt seem like the hard drive was placed or designed correctly for that kind of performance. potentially a great feature but i think there will be a LOT of angry xbox owners when their harddrives crap out. there is no cooling for the hard drive, and they never expected the hard drive to be used for that much intense gaming.
