I have my xbox 360 in a cabinet under my TV laying flat, and i've noticed that it gets pretty warm in there. I have been opening the doors in the front of the cabinet to try to get as much air in there as possible while its on, but sometimes the wife turns it on and forgets... and sometimes it gets hot in there regardless of wether or not the doors are opened, as its a small enclosed area just 3X the size of the xbox 360 itself.
I'm looking at options to cool it, and i'm noticing the fans that plug in to the xbox 360 are not recommended as they take away current from the xbox (the ones that use xbox power), and actually make things worse for the xbox 360, such as the niko fan.
i'm wondering what are the best options i can possibly take to cool down my xbox 360, and immunize myself from the RROD. I've opened up my xbox, voided the warranty and modded it, so i want to be EXTRA certain that i will not overheat my unit, as there is no replacement for me.
and wonder if they are worth it, and actually do help.
Please give me your opinions on the best of the best in custom mods, inside or out, that i can throw in my unit to have it run as cool as possible in a confined space.
And as a side note, there is no way i am removing it from the space it is in now. so re-locating my unit is not an option.
what i would do is get the extra fans that are sold in game that helps alot cos ive got my xbox inan enclosed space with the extra fans and it really helped, ive had it for almost two years now and its never gotten too hot in there but also with the noise of them you should try and half close your door to the cupboard part so that its not too noisy and it wont overheat
