Well, I'm back finally, did a tour in Iraq and thought I might come back to here. And low and behold what the hell is pandora?!
I've learned a bit in the past few days but I still have questions...
I've got 9 PSP's I'm trying to downgrade. Pandora works through hardware so in theory it should work with all firmwares, since firmware is still just software...
Anyways, I used TOTALNewbieasyInstallerPandorasmenu for 3 differnt memory sticks. All of my PSPs are currently PSP-2001 Slim, with Slim Battery that are all pandora... I know they are working pandora bats because I plug the battery in and green LED lights up and stays lit.
Anyways upon power up of any PSP I only notice that the screen stays blank and nothing really else happens. Green LED stays lit, and blank screen with no backlight.
I'm currently using Windows Vista which I've heard causes most of the problems with mspformat or something to that like. But I've also been told that TOTALNewbieasyInstallerPandorasmenu is a way to go around not having a single PSP with CFW and not having Windows XP SP2...
Anyways just thought I would look for help in the newest adventure for me since the Tif exploit and GTA exploit, and UD Platnium (what a piece of garbage...)
So let me get this straight... You want to know how to get it to work? You have everything inserted and all you see is the black screen and green LED power light correct?
Well first thing that might not have been mentioned to you with some of the installers is that you may have to hold the L trigger while you insert the pandora battery to bring up the service menu.
Another thing...the slims sometimes glitch a bit...you could try flipping your power switch to the hold position then proceed with the above instructions until you either see a menu pop up or the green light turns off. Then switch the power switch back to its normal position and do the above instructions.
If that doesnt work, you might want to consider reformatting your mem stick and reinstalling the mms files. Make sure you have the correct files as well as there are seperate ones for the slim and the phat. I suggest UPMS if you're unsure if you have the correct files as UPMS installs for both phat and slims.
I'm going back through the steps again. Have latest version of Total Newbie Installer Pandora. I selected Universal Unbricker which also allows 3.71 CFW to be installed.
About to try out the steps you mentioned as soon as its done transfering.
Still nothing, wow things have gotten way over complicated since HEN-D, TIFF, an GTA...
I got 3 jigkicked pandora batteries...
3 2 GB MS PRO DUO (with magic gate)
1 copy of Microsoft Vista (-_- worst OS ever...)
Too many PSPs... just bought 10 more broke ones off ebay.
Did the whole combination of buttons, switches, I've looked on youtube and I'm not getting anything of the sort that people are showing. I hate being out of the loop for so long...
Anyways, dont you love it when your all alone because people are afraid of what a big company can do to them for leaking "Copyrighted Matieral".
Oh well I guess I make do with what I got, and what I get out of this with aD.
Anyways here, just let me tell you specs on just one PSP
PSP-2001 (Blue Slim)
Firmware: 5.01 OFFICAL FIRMWARE Battery: Pandora Hardmod
Wifi switch: idk if it needs to be off or on?
Magic Memory Stick software: Still need either clarification on what exactly I need, or just need a click and point link for download...
Operating System: Windows Vista
Hi Steve-
First off Welcome Home, and thank you for your service- both for your country and for the psp.
Yes things have changed a great deal while you were away-These days everyone is hot for ready-made pandora batteries and the latest ill-gotten psp games.
By chance do you have or have access to a psp already homebrew enabled? staxx mentioned UPMS in his post, however you need a psp already running custom firmware to use that...Its a program you run from the psp that sets up your 'magic' memory stick-It works quite well and is basically automated by doing all the installing of files, rather than have to manually move files here and there. But the drawback is you need that psp already running CFW to use it.
I have not personally used the totalnewbiinstaller-So I cannot really give you insight on that aspect. I made my pandora setup back when it first came out(the hard way)-I imagine it gets the job done though-its just a matter of having the IPL written to the memory stick and having the files in order, which it sounds to me like you have your battery right, but the files on your memory stick are lacking. The only thing I can suggest is either trying the PSP Pandora Deluxe program found HEREfor your memory stick-(some say it works with Vista, others say it doesnt)...Or get access to an XP machine to run the other installer...
You mentioned that you have a blue slim psp? Is that the one you are trying to install custom firmware to by chance? Its possible that you may have the one that has the TA-088v3 motherboard which cannot be hacked-pandora or otherwise..
If you have a correct basic pandora setup (battery /memory stick)-the only thing you need to do is hold the L trigger button prior to inserting the battery-the menu pops up, and you are in business.
Well I managed to sort out that nightmare, I got CFW 5.00m33 working on Slim Blue.
I had to pull out my monster of a desktop out of storage to use XP since I learned far too late into the process that mspformat.exe is not supported on vista, idk why but its kind of ridiculus.
Anyways thanks much for your support.
Cheers,
Steve
By the way just bought 11 broken PSP for fixing 30 bucks a pop, tell me if you want one I might sell fixed PSP with CFW for like 80.00 USD depending upon what parts needed to be replaced.
