I just got a game and it says this in the readme

Checking SS

Caution: This SS contains a value (angle 359) that will cause older versions
of iXtreme to return a detectable bad response! Make sure your drive is flashed
with iXtreme version 1.4 or newer!

I sent my 360 away about a year ago? to get modded
So is there a way to find out what current firmware i have?
And does any one know how many updates have been released this year
And how do you update it?
And will i get banned if dont have the latest firmwire and play this game?

You're certainly running a risk of getting banned if you are running an older firmware, but with some newer games you won't even be able to load the game without the 1.4 ixtreme firmware. I guess the only answer I can give you is "it depends on your drive". Seeings how you sent it in I doubt you know which kind of drive you have. So basically, either get a hold of the people who modded your console or learn how to install the proper 1.4 firmware yourself to guarantee it's up to date. I may be wrong, but I haven't heard of a way to determine which firmware you're running without digging it open.

thanks for the reply mate.

So if it loads up it will be good? Ive got other new games like gears2 and fallout3 that are working good online, but they didn't have that SS shit in there readme

do you know when the last update come out?

Most of the 1.4 updates came out late last year as far as I know (there's a different one for each drive). Basically, if you're not running your games on live they will either load or they will not and that could give you an idea of whether you have an old firmware. If you plan on taking them on live, you would be best to have the latest 1.4 firmware.
