Did you replace the thermal paste? if not you should not even turn it on. You should be using artic silver thermal paste, and only a pea sized amount. If you did you may have used too much. It sounds like your cpu is instantly overheating, which is most likely due to something you have done. Although someone posted on here about the 360's possibly retaining the error in the memory somewhere, and needs to be reset. You could try looking up resetting the system memory, although i thought it required getting into dashboard.
i did use arctic 5 like the guide asks, but thinking about it, i used more than a pea size... i might of globbed it on a bit too much... if it sqeezes out of the sides can that create this error???
i'll take it apart and clean it up a bit and get back with the results
Yeah, you should never use too much thermal paste on cpu's. The paste is only needed to compensate for the manufacturing microscopic pits in the heatsink and cpu surfaces, it levels them out and creates clean contact.
