They won't ban you. People who got in to the early update offer were told not to take their hard drive or memory card and use it on another console. If so, that console would be updated, but not able to connect to LIVE until the 19th.
So, people could legitimately update multiple consoles, but only the one registered would be able to log on to LIVE.
