so i installed v. 1.5 but, my computer keeps asking do I want to format the device (mem card in psp ). I have a 4gb card but computer is only showing 2gb. I formated using the psp and there is still no luck. The only way I can open the mem card on my computer is if I format it from there but once I open the file there are no folders at all. Once I downgrade is there anything else I need to do to put my music, and pics back on?
like I said i can see any files from the psp on my computer
I tried to update it to another v. but the psp told me "The system cannot be updated. The update data is not applicable for this system
Thank you in advance for any one who may be able to help me.

Try using a different memory stick for your updating-if your 4gb card is only reading as 2GB's-you probably have a fake memory stick-if you bought that memory stick from eBay, then its definitely fake. That is the most common problem with the counterfeit memory sticks, that and data being corrupted.

alright thanks a lot. I truly think my problem was that I dl downgrader from megaupload and some of the files weren't their so I just updated to 2.71 and now I am able to do what i could before I downgraded but now I'm stuck because I want to get back down to 1.5 and then put a cfw on it. any suggestions.

You should get your firmware updates from www.psp-hacks.com
look in the 'downloads' section. You never know with files you get from megaupload and the like, they could have viruses, or just not have all the files needed.
If you updated to 2.71 you can still downgrade to 1.50 again-just use that guide I referred you to the other day in the thread found HERE
Instead of using the instructions for downgrading a 2.81, use the one for 2.71-you dont even need the GTA game for that-its a generic downgrader.
Once you get back to 1.50 we can get you started with installing custom firmware. Post back when you get your psp running 1.50 again.

its probably your memory stick-if you already formatted your stick via the psp, there is no need to do it again from the computer. Just click cancel when your computer asks to format the memory stick. All you need to do is transfer the files to your memory stick and run the slideshow like it says on the guide.

the slide show is on the psp-its the downgrader, you select it from the PHOTO icon in the psp menu. which downgrader are you using? the one for -2.71 PSP (TA-82 or TA-86), or the generic -2.71 PSP?
I dont use any IM at all-just blackberry messenger. If you have a blackberry, we can chat, otherwise I will try to help you out here while I am online.
OK-looking back at your posts, you indicated that you have 'IC1003' printed on your motherboard-that is a TA-082...In which case you need to use the downgrader found **HERE**
You will also need to download the 1.50 update which is located **HERE**
Once you have done that-follow the instructions below to get your psp downgraded to 1.50...
1. Open the 2.71 TA-82 or higher downloaded files and extract all files to the root (top most folder) of the memory stick. (X:\)['X' represents the drive letter of your psp]
2.Copy over the 1.5 update EBOOT.PBP renamed to UPDATE.PBP into X:\PSP\GAME\UPDATE\ (you will need to create the 'UPDATE' folder)
3. Now exit to your PSP menu and run HEN D by going to the photo menu and entering the HEN D folder.
Note: For the next few steps make sure your battery is charged to at least 75% and your charger plugged in.
4. Go to the GAME menu and and run 1.50enabler.
Read: The 1.5 enabler will tell you if you can run 1.5 or not. If it says you cannot press X to alter keys, don't continue till it says your settings will run 1.5
5. When the program exits back to the XMB run UPDATE X.YZ.
6. When your PSP has finished downgrading press X to restart your PSP.
7. When you turn your PSP on there will be a blue screen, Press O.
8. Enjoy the new v1.5 PSP!
Let me know when you have completed these steps.

XMB (cross media bar)-that is the psp menu that has all the icons and such.
If you used that downgrader-there will be pictures in the PHOTO folder...You can now safely format your memory stick once you have successfully downgraded to 1.50
Do you by chance have another memory stick you can use (eg: 32MB that sometimes comes with the psp)? It just occurred to me that if you have a 4GB stick, the 1.50 firmware wont recognize it. However it should be sufficient for updating to custom firmware..
Let me know when you are ready to install the custom firmware, please also confirm that you are currently running 1.50 at this time.

A man sorry bout that last nite my company internet was down as soon I sent you that last message.
well in my folder there aren't any pics but there is a sub folder thats says "Digital Camera Images". right now all i have are two 4gb sticks I can try and get a 32mb from a friend though.
Oh another question with version 1.5 is the background color alays that goldish looking color. The reason I ask this is because I have downgraded my psp like 3 times and every time i do it the background is that color.
so when downgrading take my 4gb out and replace it with a 32mb then go through the downgrading process correct.

you can use the 4GB memory stick for your downgrading-its just not going to show the full amount of space while you are running 1.50 firmware-They didnt have 4GB memory sticks when the psp first came out which is why they are not supported..So if worse comes to worst, you can just use that 4GB stick if you are not able to find a smaller stick to use for downgrading.
The gold background is the color of the month (November) There is a different color for every month which you can change in the psp menu.

Ok-I put together the files you need to install your custom firmware. They can be found **HERE**Please follow the instructions carefully!
Before you get started, make sure you first format your memory stick, (you will need to use the bigger memory stick-32MB wont be enough for this application) and your psp's battery has a full charge along with having the AC adapter plugged in.
-Unzip the files you have downloaded above using winRAR
-Copy the PSP folder that is inside the archive you just downloaded to your memory stick.(Click OK to overwrite files)
-Run the kxploit program from the GAME icon in the psp menu-this will install the patch needed for the custom firmware.
-Once finished with the kxploit program, run the M33 creator that is found also under the GAME menu.
-After you run the M33 Creator-There will be a new icon under the GAME menu-'3.52M33UPDATE'-Go ahead and select that-this is going to install the firmware-DO NOT REMOVE THE MEMORY STICK OR SWITCH THE POWER OFF-YOUR PSP WILL BRICK IF YOU DO.
-You should now be running 3.52M33, if that is the case then go ahead and select the M33UPDATE4 under the GAME menu this will install the patch, and once its done your psp should be at 3.52M33-4
-Now that you have 3.52M33-4, you can go ahead and select the 5.00M33-3 icon under the GAME menu and run that-This will install 5.00M33-3-AGAIN,DO NOT REMOVE THE MEMORY STICK OR SWITCH THE POWER OFF-YOUR PSP WILL BRICK IF YOU DO!
-Once you have successfully installed 5.00M33-3 you can go ahead and format your memory stick once again to remove the installer files and to setup your folder directory.

What happens when you click cancel after the computer asks to format your memory stick?
-Are you able to transfer any files to it then?
-Does your computer have a card reader? eg: a slot for your memory stick? If so, try using that.
-Try using the other memory stick you have..
The files I uploaded take up about 61MB-if you continue having trouble with your memory sticks, you will need to get at least a 128MB to get the job done.

Ok-good to see you got that worked out.
Now that you are on 5.00M33-3 go ahead and format your memory stick via the psp-a 'plugins' folder will be created for you. If not, then just go ahead and create the folder in the root of your memory stick. (X:/plugins)
The plugins go inside that folder (cxmb, etc) to activate the plugins, you do that in the recovery console. (Power psp off completely-then while turning it back on,hold down the R trigger button)
Select your plugins from the 'plugins' option in recovery.

alright since the last post I have installed games on my card(my games of course).I downloaded this program called theme downloader and its pretty cool. it has like 300 themes and you can see previews of them and then download the ones you like. Well i downloaded them but in the theme folder non of them are showing up but they will show up in psp/themes folder once I put it in usb mode.
Also i am trying to use remotejoy, but I'm having trouble running the program. is remotejoy compatible with 5.00 m33?
thanks a lot :)

Its important that you make certain these things you are putting on your memory stick are compatible with 5.00M33-3 before even putting them on your memory stick-It could bring you undesirable results with your psp if they are not. Especially with themes-they need to be geared for the firmware that you are using.
I dont if remotejoy is compatible with 5.00M33-3 having never used it myself. That is something you will have to research.
