Ok, so im using memorex DVD+R DL's (i know, i should use verbatim but i couldnt find them anywhere and i got these free from a friend who didnt need em so i thought i should give em a shot)

anyway i burned a few games and they all work great, but now there is a problem, on my 4th or 5th burn i got an error when using ImgBurn, so that disc was ruined, i did a firmware update to my drive and burned the game at 1X speed, it worked fine and it went at a pretty average speed (about 45 mins or so)

so anyway i burned a few more games after this and i noticed that they were burning VERY SLOW (like 2.5 hours) they still work fine after the burn and everything but they are going very slow, so i went back up to 2X speed (or 2.4) and the same thing happens (works fine but takes forever)

so im wondering why this may have happened, and how i could possibly get my burner going back at a normal speed again, like i said the games work fine after the burn, its just it takes a really long time and i cant seem to find out why it started taking so long all of a sudden when the first few times it was going nice and smooth

any help would be appreciated :)

Well, I had SAME problem in a Sony DVD writer. It worked great, but took forever to burn(after a few months...). I couldnt get it to speed up even at 16x speeds. I just got a new one. LG HSSN-55.

ok, well i dont really have the money to replace my burner ATM

but does anyone have any other solutions, because its going very slow and occasionally ill get a game that wont work (i know i said all my games work, but actually 2 of the games i burned backups of, Fallout 3 and Dead Space and these 2 did not work, but the majority of them still do)

so im just wondering if anyone can help me, because i figure theres no way it can be the laser, if it was going to be the laser it would be more gradual wouldnt it? Like it wouldnt go from being a normal speed to being amazingly slow over the course of like 2 burns would it? it would take longer for a laser to wear out than that wouldnt it?

also i know it cant be the media cuz its the exact same disc's i have been using

so any help?

well obviously getting a new burner would solve the problem, but thats not what im asking, as i have said i dont have the cash to do that right now

what my question was is does anyone have any advice or anything that could help me with the situation im in now, i cant get a new burner so dont bother saying that

if theres somthing i can maybe try with my current burner to get it going smooth again for a while till i can afford another one that would be great
