ive done the xclampfix.lasted 3 months,,penny trick lasted 1 week,now the rrod is back,every other day i tihgten screws.reapply paste,but the same thing rrod.so as a last resort i removed the case and just sat the steel cage in the bottom half of the case,i turned the fan round so its blowing air at the cpu and dvd drive.and removed the white air funnel.now with air blowing against the cpu and no top half of the case it runs quiter,and has been fine now for 3 days,fingers crossed,
my mate bought one of his friends (rrod),
opened the case like you and put a solemon whisper fan in....
he plays it now open (top part of case open ) and works like a dream!
hes had it like this for over 3 mnths!
mine is the same it rrod every week without fail bloody thing.
i,ve done the x-clamp and penny fix... i even left the board out sitting on the unit with everything attatched but it is hopeless.
