EZQuest has launched its latest Mac-based product, the internal Phoenix Blu-ray Super Drive 6X Rewriter. The drive can play and record to CD, DVD, HD DVD and Blu-ray. WHY are they making it compatible with a format like HD DVD? Seems kinda moot....since Blue ray won the format war!

It uses alot of the same code. A Blu laser can read it. Why not.

Maybe if the HDDVD part was taken out, then the price would come down nicely. :)

well the HDDVD part is handy for those building or owning a HTPC to have both formats in one drive...there are quite a few people out there which have both formats and a lot of hddvd movies so it does make sense in that respect.
