Hi, I have been using this this guide to change my mkv's into M2TS files to play on my PS3. Some of these work great and some will only play audio - I just get a blank screen. I have compared a working file to a non working file and they are both using H.264 AVC video and AC3 audio. Both are using profile 4.1 (even tried 3.1 with no luck). The working file has a resolution of 1920x800p and the non-working file is 1920x1072p.
Can the ps3 only play certain resolutions? If this is not the case, can someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks!

If it's in the m2ts container, the PS3 should be able to play it. The problem seems to be that your video is corrupt, and you'll have to re-encode it. The resolution problem only comes in when you're muxing the video into a Blu-Ray folder with tsMuxer. In that case, you would have to re-encode to a HD resolution - 1920 x 1080 or 1280 x 720.
But for this, I think you just need to re-encode the video.

Ripbot264 is second to none in ripping for the ps3. and does a beautiful job with MKV's or M2TS files. also has built in presets for both 1080p and 720p and very easy to use once its setup. give it a try

zax808: I've used Ripbot. but for the life of me can;t find where to select the settings I need. I've got a PHILIPS BDP5012/F7, Which will only play 1280x108O- or 1280x720
I called Philips tech support, they said it was a firmware issue, and that they were working on it [ EXACT WORDS to me were :BE PATIENT"],Meanig that they don't know when the issue will be resolved
But in the mean time I can't play most of my BD Discs
My Samsung BD-P1500 in the bedroom plays anything I throw at it. Doesn't matter can be 1916x788,1280x536,1280x534,1280x688,etc
But the Philips just won't do it
So I'm looking for something that I change these to play at 1280x1080 or 1280x720

open ripbot. and hit "ADD". when you get to the encoding settings page, look to the bottom left of the screen where it says "MODE" (where you can set "2-pass" or "CQ") to the right of that theres a button that says "properties" once you have this open its the second bar down. just open it up and choose 1280x720p
