I have a OPTIARC AD-5170A will this drive be able to burn xbox 360 games?? it's just a simple question please reply.

It appears to write to DVD-DL, so the answer would be yes.

I have a different drive than that one but my drive will not recognise DL discs unless they are in the drive when i boot. so when i insert a disc nothing happens and it says my drive is a dvd ram drive. so i reboot with the disc in and it works fine. I dunno if u have a similar problem but maybe it is worth a shot.

also let us know exactly what disc type u are using. brand and everything

My problem is that when I burn games using image burner I get a write error. and for all other softwarter

disk type is Blank, Manufactured by RICOHJPN

and brand is AONE Plus 8X

Never heard of that brand. It is best to use Verbatims. I have used them from the first game i burnt and have never had any errors at all. already went thru a 25 pack also.

So really untill u get correct brand you cant really be sure what the problem is.

oh one more thing. alot of people say there are 2 different Verbatims one is made in sigapore and one in malaysia? i think. most say the sigapores are best for 360 cause it reads them better.

myself i have only bought verbatims the one time(just started burning games in sept) and i didnt check where they were from so i cant give personal experience.

If I'm not mistaken you need to use DVD+R DL to burn 360 games. That drive only supports DVD-R DL.

Also I see the discs that you are using. Those are DVD+R DL which are fine but like I said your drive does not support them.

OK so apparently there is a "DVD +R9" which I think they meant DVD+R DL. :/

yes your right so it is the disk's (on the front of the drive DVD+ r dl is printed)

It is best to burn the .dvd file (if you don't already have the layer-break info set in ImgBurn) at 2.4X speed. The disc's max speed should be 2.4X also- there are some 8X max speed, too. My Made in Singapore Verbatim DVD+R DL all work which has a max speed of 2.4X.
