Alright, so I've tried extracting UniverFile from a number of places and tried the 3 parts available as well as the single download just to be safe and I'm running into an issue I haven't seen addressed while searching the Forums yet. I am using a Slim with Original 3.80 Firmware and honestly just want to put some emu's on it (which I already have, not looking for those) - using an 8GB Sandisk MagicGate card and have followed the directions to the tee thus far. I make it all the way down to where the Pandora Menu is supposed to start installing files to the card and instead of installing and getting the screenie shown with the prompt for a "Y," this is all I get:
Easy installer by HC og Xi-Bit
Files Completed/added by Xi-Bit
Icon made by CraQkeY
Rest and most, made by Noobz Team, Team C+D, Dark_AleX, Booster og Hellcat!
Press any key to continue...
As soon as I press a button the easy installer quits. If i look at the contents of the memory stick after this too there isn't a single folder on it. I do have the 1GB card that my PSP came with but am reluctant to use that incase something were to go wrong and I wasn't able to copy all my data back to it. I'm not sure if I can just copy my saves off and then format and put them back on and have it be fine. If someone knows, I'd be much obliged and would definitely give that a shot. If anyone has any thoughts on why the Easy Installer might be doing this I'd really appreciate it too. Thank you in advance
Edit: Only other thing I forgot to mention, but do not see how this could possibly have an impact on it, is that I'm running a Mac and doing all this via VMWare Fusion in my Windows Partition. I don't think that would have any effect, but wanted to throw it out there incase.
well you could try making your magic memory stick on a windows xp or vista computer or format your memory stick and download this file extract it and copy the files onto your memory card to make it a DC5 magic memory stick manually
This happened to me and I've seen it occur to many. The installer will skip important steps based on the condition of your PC, but the most obvious is the OS that you are using to create the MMS. You will need to create the MS manually.
I think the issue might have also been the 8GB Card because that guys' walkthrough was freezing up too so I copied the saved data from my 1GB card and then did it with that one and everything worked great. Now I just need a Pandora Battery and we'll be in business. Thanks for your guys help and knowledge on this! Much appreciated.
A genuine Sony ProDuo 1GB card is the recommended MS to use. Anything that is not a Sony MagicGate will not work and if it does its pure luck. I'm glad you were able to create the card. If the card is not Sony you may have difficulties booting into the CFW.

That being the case, you don't think there would be any issue using an 8GB SanDisk MagicGate Memory Stick Pro Duo just for emulators and whatnot right? Just the initial flashing of the FW that would require the Sony stick?
no, the thing about the fake memory cards is they can affect all aspects of storing data and speed at anytime, but i'm not as stuck to the idea as everyone else that all fake magic stick are really fake, meaning i have a 4gb sony pro due and when i format with my pc or psp it shows magic gate is blank, somtimes it has shown it as not supported but i have not had a single problem with speed, data loss or any other things that is typical and i also have a 1gb with the same blank magic gate information
so just try your luck and if the card works good just try getting it from reliable sources and not ebay because there are fake cards out there that simple do not and could not work.
ShaggyZE, makes good point. What I meant was that I recommend that you only use a Sony ProDuo 1GB card when you flash and upgrade your PSP. Anything higher than 4GB, depending on your PC, may not allow you to write the IPL code onto the card. You can use the SanDisk MS that you have for everything else, except to flash. I wouldn't be comfortable saving data on cards that were not made by Sony.
A reliable online source is Amazon.com. Don't purchase the cards from merchants buy them direct from Amazon.
