Hi guys,
Not a major issue, but a bit of a bugbear for me...
I can burn my decrypted backups fine in Nero Burning Rom, but when I use Nero SmartStart, and select 'Copy Disk' (to copy on-the-fly), I get a message that the destination disk isn't large enough (even though it's perfectly big enough using Burning ROM!).
I'm using Nero Full Version 6.0.0.24 (with the DVD option selected, as opposed to the CD option, I hasten to add!).
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers for now,
Rob

Are you trying to copy a disc with Startsmart or from your HD? If a disc what sort? If you mean you are are burning backed up files in this way on your HD you are not burning on-the-fly so you need to uncheck that option in the settings. You should also not use the 'copy disc' option.

Hiya Dm
Errm - I *have* backed up DVD's fine after first ripping to my hard drive.
What I'd ideally *like* to be able to do now is to bang my burned back-up into my reader, and burn 'on-the-fly' to my writer (so I don't have to copy the vob's etc back onto my hard drive again).
It's at the point when I try to do an on-the-fly burn that Nero complaints that the blank DVD-R I've got in my Pioneer A05 writer isn't big enough...even though it is!!

Which programme did you create the backups with and have you tried different discs?

I've tried this with several brands of DVD-R disks, the latest being BulkPaq Orange.
The original disk was decrypted/compacted with DVD Shrink, and the resulting files burned from Hard Drive to blank DVD-R.
All I want to be able to do in Nero (if possible) is to pop my backup disk in, and burn on-the-fly to a new blank DVD-R.
As mentioned though, Nero keeps instsing that the 4.7Gb blank that's in my DVDRW is too small!! :-S

It is not a good idea to burn on the fly anyway as read errors can regularly occur. I rarely use this option now but the error message you are getting should still not be present. You may have a corruptes aspi layer that can cause many types of errors so try downloading this and trying again (it's perfectly safe to do so):-
http://www.clonecd.net/Force-Aspi.htm Also make sure you uninstall the 'InCD' part of Nero 6 if you do not use this, which is known to cause id and burning issues/problems. Bulqpak orange are not good discs so I would try using an alternative.

Your Nero is also out of date, get the free update and see if that helps

Ah - my mistake on the version of Nero!
I did actually download and upgrade to the latest revision 2 days ago (and this failed to solve this odd problem!)

I have similar problem Everthing I now try to copy (either on the fly or not) I get an error message stating that I do not have enough space on my blank DVD-R and DRV+RW (have used several different disks)
What is causing this ?
Can copy films via shrink 3.1 but continue to have sticky titles (at end of movie)
Have a 1.2ghz processer with 320mb
Have an Optowrite dd0401 burner
My son in-law has a 3ghz Hp bought from comet and uses shrink 3.1 and Nero like myslef but never seems to have an issues either with shrink 3.1 or Nero (using DVD copy option), he uses cheap blanks as weel !!!

The sticking at the end of the movie is almost certainly due to poor disc quality and you will most likely continue to get that unless you change the discs.

The latest disks I used are Maxell DVD+RW 1-4 Speed
Costing around £4 each (Uk money)
Still have the sticking
My son-in law can use cheap 80p disk which work fine (green bulkpaq)

Do you have the same DVD player as your son in law?
If not the comparison is a waste of time.
Also +RW discs are possibly the least compatible type to play on a standalone. If your player is at all fussy they will fall over.
You may not think this is a media issue but it's 99% likely to be just that.

What media do you recommend I burn with ?
Thanks
Ps
I have given a few sticky movies to my son-in law and the movie would stick on his standalone player as well that is why I thought it was my system or burner
Could the firmware be an issue ?
Have read somewhere about this but not sure what firmware is ?

I'd try Grade A Ritek G04s plain -R www.blankdiscshop.co.uk
use a movie that fills the whole disc and see if you still have a problem.
I would not copy on the fly at all.
A firmware upgrade may well help
If you aren't using the latest Nero then download that as well.

Maxell are probably not the manufacturers - they could still be Princo discs. As Mallum says Ritek G04's are the most reliable cheaper discs.
