If its the starview 1
Do a factory reset & flash it with the crypstar v.1.4- Core 2.57 bin & see if this helps.

I've done this and it hasnt fixed the problem
It freezes and switches off and comes back on again but not for long and some times it will just freeze and not come back on without turning the box off and on

Is that hard to do? Looks like a big job :(

5 minute job. If you don't like soldering, just bring it to your local TV/electrical repair shop and tell them what needs replacing and they will do it for a few quid.

Did you fix it yourself and make sure the polarity was correct when doing so? Also check other cap C21 and the D7 diode.

Other than doing as per what the poster said above "reflash a few times". I would get your mate to check the voltages coming from the PSU.
Voltages you should have are:
3.3 Volt
12 Volt
23 Volt
7 Volt
Report back his findings as we can then tell if there is a cap still at fault. Caps do not have to show visual signs of failure to be at fault. The first 3.3 V powerline if dropped to around 3.1V is indicative of a cap fault.

I decided to flash the box 5 or 6 times and on the 4th time it frooze while doing it and wouldnt finish the flash.
When i hook it up to the telly now on the lcd where it would show what channel it was on a line keeps going around in a loop and then stops just showing a line.
Is it fucked?

Bad Flash, go to the first link in my post at the bottom, and use the bad flash method, you may have to try it quite a few times, you will also find it at the link marked Starview, it has been known to work 1st time and others have taken 20 plus attempts, keep trying and eventually it will kick in. Good Luck.

The bad flash got it back working. Cheers for that. It appears to be working better than ever! Saying that i've ordered starview 4 to replace it as i reckon its only a matter of time before it shits itself again
