i have the homebrew and no chip. wierd thing is when i insert a backedup game it shows up in the channel listing and loads up past the warning about the wrist strap. then it just stays at a black screen and says "loading...." is this normal? i just traded a 360 for this wii and want to make sure everything is ok.
by the way, i insert this game without loading homebrew channel or using any kind of backup booter or anything. i just turn the Wii on and insert the dvd-dl with a backup on it. normal or is there something inside the wii i don't know about?

There probably IS a chip inside of the Wii. Ask the person who you traded the Wii with what chip is inside. Or if you have a tri-wing screwdriver then open it up yourself and see.

And don't use DVD DLs. Almost every Wii game is a standard DVD. Only games that are DL is Super Smash Bros. Brawl and a Japanese game.

i have those screwdrivers, i guess i'll open her up. i thought it was funny that it would do that. every other console throws and invalid disk error message and i never got that. would having a custom iOS couse this or is there a greater chance at a chip in there? sorry i guess i'll openm it up when i get a chance and find out myself.
by the way the game is SSBB. like i said i put it in and the channel shows the game. when i click the channel i get the sounds and it starts through the 1st 2 screens then gets stuck at the loading screen.

well i'm still trying to get a screwdriver to open up the damn box to see what chip is in there. i lost the other screwdriver. i think this thing had already been messed with. i have ios from like 9 to 36 or so to 249 and 51. total of about 10+ ios according to titledeleter. i think they are all messing with each other. or maybe the chip needs updating. if i uninstall ios249 i can use wiigator. if i reinstall 249 i get an error when loading a disk through wiigator. i have 1 disk that loads the controller warning screen then stops at the black screen and just says "loading..." on the bottom right (SSBB). then i have another that will only run online levels. if i try a offline race it will just shut down at the black screen before it loads a level (mariocart wii). a different disk will only show the warning screen on the controller and freeze at the black screen before the menu to the game loads. all dvd's load at the channel screen without the use of any type of loader. I'm pretty sure now this thing was chipped before i traded for it. i just wish i knew what chip was in there and what ios i can remove safely. i'll keep searching for a remover to go back to factory settings. if anyone can help that would be great. is there any special setting to use with Wiigator?
