2 Red Rings after X-Clamp?

Hey guys,
I did the X-Clamp trick, and now I almost instantaniously get the 2 Red Rings, the overheating code. What am I doing wrong? any help would be great, I miss Madden. lol.

I think it might be because my nylon washers may be a little thicker than usual and the heatsink isnt working. Me being smart I put everything back together before I tested it, so now I give up for tonight.

okay, so does that chip sensor have to be clean, with nothing in between (thermal paste?)i lined up everything the way it was before, as to my knowledge.

Yeah just redo everything, start with the chip clean, put on a small drop of paste and spread it with a razorblade. Make sure both dies are covered evenly and add the heatsink. You shouldn't have much of a problem.

tlet us know if it works because i did the same thing and i assumed that the rings were because i scratched the bottom of the 360.

Hey, do you guys know how much thickness there should be with the washers between the board and the heatsink? I've got nylons, and metal washers in there right now, but my nylons are fairly thick, probably 1.6-1.7mm, I'm thinking maybe I should take out the metal washer from the top, and just have the thick nylon washer in there.

2 mm between the board and the heatsink... suppposedly.
If you figure it right from llammas tutorials.
You have
Metal tray
metal washer
metal washer
metal washer
nylon washer
board
nylon washer
metal washer
heatsink
Since they are all 1mm thick you'd have 4mm between the board and the metal tray, and 2mm between the board and the heatsink.

so if I have a 1.7mm washer, can I just use that between, why do you have to have 2 washers, whats the significance of it? I wonder if i just kept 2.7mm there if it would make any difference...

You need something that will keep the board and heatsink seperated 2mm exactly. Take a caliper and go to lowes or home depot, make sure the washers you use are 1mm thick. Using a 1.7mm washer isn't going to help you, i'm sure there's not a .3mm washer available. Time to rethink this process.....

I dont know anywhere else in Alberta (Canada) that has washers like that. I was at home depot and the guy just brought me to the thick washers... Anywhere else that might have them?

I found some nylon P clips here at work that I can cut and round off as washers that are 1mm thick, they should work fine.

is there any lowes in canada? maybe just some local hardware store may have them. check small stores also that usually sell the cheap junk like dollar stores or something similar, sometimes they have small sections of hardware maybe u will get lucky

the p clips should be fine, its not like they'll be any differnet than washers once they're cut.

So I put everything back together, and it works very well, I played for 3 hours without the usual freezing that was occuring all the time. I also added one of those clip on fans that go on the back of the system, I don't know how well they work, but it is 12V so it cant hurt.

is it the kind of fan that plugs into the usb or has its own power adapter. cause the ones that plug into the 360 power connector and then u pass the 360 brick power thru it those can mess up ur system by screwing up the power and can actually cause overheating.
so macke sure u have one with an ac adapter or plugs into usb

Hmm... I will take it back maybe, I just looked it up and there does seem to be some problems with it. What about the models that cool from the bottom of the xbox, that act as stands? That seems like it could work better.

i dont think the fan position matters as that was never a problem that i heard of, just the way the power is delivered to the cooling unit.
