Ive been googling and searching forums for about 4 hours now, so i figured i would just post..
To start off, my 360 has an ms28 that is already flashed (xtreme 5.3a) and works fine for copying games(not the problem I'm having).
Howver, I have an extra dvd drive(ms25) that I had flashed (xtreme 5.3a) for a friend which his 360 had over heated and fried, then just gave it to me. I didnt want to use the 360 to power on the drive so I looked up a wiring diagram for the power to power directly from my computer, which is working as we speak.
When I want to copy a game, I figured all I would have to do is insert the 0800 disc to disable firmguard, and do the same thing I would normally do with my ms28 drive.
1.I start up my computer which powers the ms25 drive. It doesn't seem to have any problems booting into windows.
2. When the desktop is loaded i insert the 0800 disc and let it run for about 10-15 seconds.
3. The drive is now accessible in windows.
4. I open up Xbox Backup Creator v2.8 and insert a game to copy(btw i have tried multiple games and already backed up games).
5. For some reason, the Start button does not enable. But if iI insert an Xbox1 Disc, the start button is enabled, but it cannot unlock the game partition. I have even tried clicking on the Unlock Drive button under Drive tools, both with a 360 disc and an xbox1 disc. both give the same error.
im not sure if the problem is because I had rewired the 12pin power cable to be powered through the wires from the psu in my computer or what.
If im to post a log from xbox backup creator just let me know, its still all saved.
ps. ive also tried using the ixtreme 1.4 firmware, but i cant ever get windows to detect either drive with it( i used to have it on my ms28 till i wanted to copy games. xtreme 5.3a seemed to work fine.)
