NXE update: Will it work with NME v2 installed?

I have an NME v2 chip installed on my system and want to update the dashboard to the new NXE but I am concerned whether the chip will still work after the update or if it is only compatible with the original dashboard. Has anyone with this chip updated yet or know if is alright to do?
