Working on flashing my 360 (Hitachi drive, 0047DJ)...
I have connected the drive via a SATA cable, and am able to get the drive in to Mode B (via the SLAX disc). The drive is visible in Windows.
Unfortunately, when I run the FLASHIX.BAT file in the iXtreme1.4 collection, I receive an error that the 16- or 32-bit file is not compatible with my 64-bit OS.
I have followed the Textbook (2008) word-for-word.
Did it say in textbooks tutorial, that you can use Vista 64-bit? Because it just sounds like Vista 64 isn't supported for that. You could try right-clicking on the program and selecting 'Run as Administrator' but I don't know if that will fix it.
No, unfortunately Textbook 2008 does not give any indication as to what OS will (or won't) work to flash the drive.
I have tried to "Run as Administrator"... but, still no luck.
I have also tried using Firmware Toolbox 4.0. That application works in Windows Vista, but freezes when I try to dump the original firmware. I put in a (original) Xbox 360 game, click dump, and the program freezes (meanwhile, my DVD drive re-opens because it's in Mode B).
Does the drive need to remain closed for it to dump? And, if so, what do I need to do to keep the drive from re-opening?
Last question... what about creating a partition, installing XP, and dual-booting into XP to flash the drive? Any thoughts on that?
I tried doing a hitachi 47 the other day in vista and let me tell you it Sucks.I bricked my Drive in toolbox.I was able to read my Firmware by selecting Classic dump,it was when I spoofed it, and was flashing it back, that it froze up at 90% Done.Now I have a Drive that don't do nothing.I have heard after the fact that if you leave the drive open while in toolbox that it helps.But don't quote me on that seems how I bricked mine.I think next time ill just put a dual booting os on my pc,and pun it from xp.Let me know how you make out on this, as I am curious if I come across another old drive like this.
Also to keep the drive in,while it's going in ,hit the eject button again.So hit the button 2x going in.
