"Thousands of pieces of spam were stopped in its tracks on Tuesday when a hosting site known for relaying spam was shut down. Reports indicate that all spam was reduced by as much as 50% within one day of the site's demise.

San Jose, Calif.-based hosting site, McColo, was shut off by the site's upstream provider. McColo is believed to be responsible for up to 75% of all spam email. Upstream provider Hurricane Electric shut off service to McColo at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday.

It is speculated that spammers may now regroup in Eastern Europe according to Adam O'Donnell, who posted on the ZDNet Zero Day blog. A similar shutdown occurred in September when Intercage/Ativo was nixed by its upstream providers."

Good news.
I know along with many others am sick to death of getting ads for Viagra, Breast enlargement, penis enlargement, debt reduction and so on from some guy in Panamá y Venezuela asking you to enter your credit card information here and we will ship your order ASAP.

Sad part is some people will happily give them the info they ask for and then really expect to get something in return.
