So finally got everything i need to get this stuff going and i just took apart my xbox and im holding my dvd drive in my hand. Im going off this PDF guide someone gave me and its telling me to check to see which version i have MS25 or MS28 but problem is that i dont have that sticker on top that says that.

bought this 360 on ebay and guy put a modded case on it, i didnt really care but its was decent price. But he removed the sticker with all the info and put on some metalic sticker to make it look fancy(xbox gots a see through case so can see drive) guess when he had his xbox he wanted to see something other then that info on the drive. so my question is there anyother way to find out what version i have? can i just try MS25 way and if that doesnt work try the MS28 way?

also a link to some kind guide other then this pdf on how to do this would be nice. i looked through stickys but seemed the only two i found that covered flashing was for a hatachi drive. maybe there all done the same way i dont know. and the pdf im using says if i have a MS28 i need VIA SATA chipset. what exactly is that and how do i tell if i do?

Iprep will tell you if it's a MS25 or MS28 when it creates the hacked firmware it will detect the drive and if it's an MS25 it will want to know if you want to spoof the firmware for a MS25 as it by default creates firmware for an MS28.
Good luck.

So how do i get power to the drive once i got sata cable plugged into it? I tried using the 360 power cord and connecting the sata to it but didnt work. still didnt read the drive when i used Iprep. the xbox was haveing the RRoD so i kinda freaked out put it back together and its fine now.

So what type of connector do i need to and if my power supply doesnt have one (because i dont think it does) do i need some type of adapter? if so what is it called so i can get one on newegg

Dude let me ask something at the thing, At the time of your 360 showing the RROD was the powercable connect to the back of your console, and was the A/V cables hooked into the back of your 360? aswell?

Leave the power cable connected to the dvd drive and 360 motherboard and the 360 will power the dvd drive while your sata cable will read and write to the dvd drive from your pc.

lol what? The 360 wouldn't show an error if you didn't have power connected to it, what kind of question is that? Use common sense when trying to help other people, you just might confuse them more with questions like this.

I had the power cable in but not video didnt think it was need for it for obviouis reasons. but i turned on xbox with dvd drvie connected to pc and the power coming from xbox. but it had the RRoD blinking. but i tried running IPREP and it gave error saying "unable to find any devices" and i was worried i broke my xbox so i put it back together and it works fine. so i guess if im able to draw power from xbox to power drive why did i get error from iprep saying "unable to find any devices"?

Just keep trying, the rrod...(which it wasn't, it was the 4 red error lights) wouldn't effect anything to do with flashing. All the xbox is doing at this point is providing power to the dvd drive.

ok so been looking for hours now, no answer. watched many youtube videos, read many forums and still no closer.

if anyone that can help me has that PDF "Hacking 360 for noobs" if you go to page 65 and this is where im stuck.

step 1. select patch MTKFLASH - DONE!
step 2. select your SATA controller from the list. if you can not locate the correct one in the drop-down list, hit the button below to switch between ide/scsi based controllers.- here is where im stuck with no help and ready to scream in frustration...

i Have no controllers to pick from under SCSI controllers. it tells me "Unable to find and devices" I dont know if at this point im suppose to have my Xbox drive connected to my computer but i have tried it both ways. Every damn thing i find online doesnt have this prob so they continue right on and i cant find any where online with ppl have same problem.

please help this sucks so damn much putting all this money to be stopped here...

go to newegg.com and buy this item

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816132012

install that into a PCI slot on your computer, install the drivers for it, boot into windows load iprep, then it will show that in your drop down box, select it and proceed with your flashing.
