Has anyone else noticed that movies backed up with DVD Shrink skip or hick up at the same place / time regardless of the blank media used ?. I have noticed this on many of my backups.
I am using the latest Shrink and Nero 5.10 to back up my DVD's and have set Shrink to 4450 disk size.
Thanks

No, i have never noticed that. Are you running programs that are conflicting with the Shrinking process, or the more likely, the burning process?

Does it also skip at the same place when you play it on your PC? If it only skips on your standalone.... then get one that's rated to play DVD-R media.

Hmanfl,
Try comressing it a bit more, until you see a tiny bit of gray at the end of the green - that way you're not writing to the very edge of the disc :-)
Upgrade your media to a good name brand - Ritek G04 or Verbatim - it's a top-of-the-line dye appliacation -
Also, DO NOT USE COMPUTER WHILE IT IS BURNING!
The above should better your work and cut down on your coaster production (skipping DVD's qualify as coasters :-)
Welcome to the club :D

Oriphus, No I turn virus and ALL other software off during burning.
UT_CK, Nope only skips on my set top player and it is rated for DVD -r/+r.
ScubaPete, I am already using the custom setting in Shrink to reduce the final Video size to 4450. I could go lower.
The funny thing is , its just a hicup, about 3-5 seconds at most and the rest of the movie plays fine all the way to the end.
This not a big problem to me , I just wondered if others had run in to it also. I found a thred on Doom9
about this Issue and Mr.Shrink was unable to repete the Error on his machine for bug testing. I was thinking that if others are having this problem then we might get enough data for Mr.Shrink to look into it.

Sometimes hiccups like that can be caused when backing up dual leyered media. owever, since you say that it happens on all DVD moives at the same time, i find that problem isnt the problem.

Sounds like a layer break problem. Shrink has a setting for how it deals with layer breaks somewhere (I don't use Shrink much so I can't help)

Hmanfl,
The proper size would be - 4.36GB so a little lower wouldn't hurt -
Me, I compress it til I get a little bit of gray at the end of my green bar, that way I stay away from that "brittle" edge -
