hi im new to this, here goes, i got a ps3 and since the last update (nov 5th 2008) i noticed some of the text on the xmb was missing, then all of a sudden my ps3 wont spin blu rays, dont have any movies to test but none of my games spin, dvds and cds are fine, the ps3 is only 7 months old so still under warranty i will be phoning sony if i can find my receipt but if i cant i was wondering if anybody had any ideas on what is the matter with my ps3?

at only 7 months old i wont believe the blu ray is dead already, not a big techie so take it easy with me, lol

Sounds like a dead blu-ray...if you search the forum you will find several threads about the issue.
Sony will repair/replace it for you if it's still under warranty.

thx for the info, i will check out some forums.

to me a 7 month life span on a blu ray drive is not good at all, ive owned ps1's and ps2's never having any faults at all both being really reliable, is this a one off or will it need replacing it in another 7 months, i hope not.
