Swap magic won't get past it's title screen (Solved)

Hi, I've read the entire sticky swapmagic thread and this specific problem hasn't turned up

I have a slim ps2, version 14 I think (scph-75003)

I just received swapmagic 3.6 in the post along with the tools

I installed the tools with no problems and the laser moves to the centre while the lid is open etc, so no problem there then

The issue is that when I insert either of the discs, it boots up to the initial swapmagic title screen (this one:
)

but that is as far as it gets, it never makes it to the next screen where you get the menu (load program, video mode etc)



When I put the sm disc in I can hear it spin up normally until it loads up that screen, at which point it ceases to spin.

I thought it could be a faulty disc, but it does the same on both discs, and gets to exactly the same point before it stops spinning.

I have also checked to see if I have pressed it down onto the spindle
properly, and I have

does anyone have an idea as to the cause of this problem, it certainly has me stumped!

I have exactly the same problem. I press X to do a normal boot and it just says "No Data"

Its definatley the discs i would say .Very first time i got SM the dvd disc was bad got replacements and got dvd with crack in it .And they always had scratches on them. Fought with company again but just got fed up they dont check there mail.Now i have codebreaker swap magic and they work but still have scratches right outta the package .

yeah I was just being an idiot and had a usb drive plugged in to the ps2 at the same time

works fine now
