I installed Wiikey V2 great. Everything works, ejecting, loading, backups, and everything.

I put the Wii back together (leaving the backup in the Wii). When I powered it on, the game still worked. I ejected the disc, and the backup popped out.

However, when I put another backup in to load, the Wii was not accepting the disc to load (normally it would pull the disc in and load the backup).

I pulled the Wii apart, and still the drive will not accept a disc. Also, when I load the disc in there manually, the disc will not spin up.

Please help!! Thanks. :)

I have read on the forums here and there.

Tonight, I am going to check:

1)All cables to the drive to make sure they haven't come loose.
2)Check to see if there is a blow fuse (i don't think that has happened here because I have got it working for two games and played them for awhile).

Is there anything else anyone can recommend trying? I will post my results after tonight.

Thanks. :)

Did you get the Solderless WiiKey 2 Mod Chip or just the Mod Chip?

Boy did i have a very similar problem and it was giveing me all kinds of trouble.

My Stats

Wii 3.3U v2 w/ wiikey 2 soldered direct

I installed the chip and everything was working fine just like you said, then i put it all back together and it was working fine, i gave it back to the guy and he took it and played it a while and then said during games it would not read disks. sure enough he brought it back to me and i couldn't get backups to play. Rarely i would get one to work and this didn't make sense to me. So i took the wii back apart, unsoldered everything and re soldered everything with NEW wires (Assuming it was either a bad solder joint or a broken wire (Broken inside the plastic) i thought for sure it must be losing connection somehow arcing for it to be acting like this. After 8 hours of re soldering i went home and had my wiikey2 tester (I use a wiicliped wiikey 2 for testing.) i unsoldered the other chip now assuming that the chip was bad and i installed the new wiiclip wiikey 2. I then got the games to work for about 10 minutes and then would stop. I was dumbfounded and couldn't figure out what was going on.

I was already planning on downgrading it so i decided to focus on this while i decided if i was going to order a new chip for this wii of some other brand. So i spent a good 4 hours getting the new work around to work through Zelda (He didn't have any home brew installed making this as difficult as it gets.) Anyways i finally got it downgraded to 3.2 and decided to test (still with the wiicliped wiikey 2 on) and every game i put in had a system update on it. I knew that this was NOT a firmware update so i let it install and tada every backup i tried from then on was working. I then took the wiicliped wiikey off and re soldered the wiikey 2 back on and now its:

wii 3.2U with wiikey2 soldered

And everything is now working fine.

So i conclude that the wiikey 2 seems to have problems with the newest 3.3 firmware.

Ok... So I checked the data cable (checked out good).
I checked the fuse (checked out good even though I didn't think there was a fuse problem.

With the Wii apart, I fiddled with the right side bottom plastic (white in color) of the dvd drive a bit, while the Wii was powered off. I then powered on the Wii and it made more of a regular noise I remember hearing when I got the unit brand new.

I then put a disc in and the Wii pulled it in like normal. It read the disc and everything is working as normal.

After playing a few backups, I hit the eject button and removed the backup. I then went to place another backup in the Wii and the same condition occurred, where it wouldn't accept any disc into the Wii. I fiddled with that same piece... under the right side of the dvd tray (white in color) and then powered the Wii on. It then accepted discs again.

I think I should probably bend the dvd tray in a bit so the tray's gears would line up better or something.

Does anyone know the correct adjustment to avoid this condition?

Thanks.

To answer your question, it is a soldered chip, not a clip. I've heard that the clip is waaaay to hit or miss as the connection isn't as solid.

Ok... so I still haven't put it back together (leaving the Wii open). After about 7 game changes (loading and ejecting) it did the same thing (it would not load the disc).

I had to fiddle with the side of the dvd tray again, and power off the Wii. After powering it back on, it engaged the tray and then allowed me to load a game. The Wii continued to operate normally for the rest of the night (6 game changes).

It could happen again and I want to prevent it from happening. Can someone help me to adjust the tray so it doesn't happen again?

Thanks.
