So my Wii performed its little "I have a message and am going to blink at you as if I'm possessed" deal like 10 minutes ago and low and behold theres a 3.4U update that finally is out. Who knows what it does and how are we going to work around it? lol

I am new to the wii scene but I am really familiar with the PSP and when I saw the update I just laughed. I decided to read the description and it says it fixes any corrupt games saves so BEWARE! I normally hate all caps but it seems appropriate for the situation. It does talk about improved usability so hopefully there will be usable features from the new update.

The new update is supposedly designed to eliminate homebrew by deleting unauthorized channels and game saves.

I haven't seen where it has actually caused problems anywhere yet. But the new Terms of Service say that Nintendo can now, "without notifying you" download and install patches to your Wii.

Also, the speed of SD transfers are up a good bit.

GBATemp reports that the 3.4 update removes the Twilight Princess Hack and homebrew channel.

Wiibrew also has a huge red banner at the top of their main page that says:

Notice: At this time, WiiBrew recommends that you do not update your Wii through Nintendo, as it disables some homebrew (DVDx, PatchMii, Twilight Hack). Recent reports suggest System Menu 3.4 removes all custom channels.
There is no way to install a patched version of System Menu 3.4 currently.
