NXE Update - Games that improve/don't improve with the new install to hard drive function.

Well here is my list so far games i have tested.
1. Rock band 1 (fixed several problems even with lag by installing it to the hard drive)
2. Quake 4 (Look's absolutly amazing off of the hard drive really scared the %$#$% out of me)
3. Halo 3 (took 15 minutes to load i hope microsoft fixes this on the 19th of nov)
4. Burger king games (improved nothing still loads the same)
5. Pirates of the carribean (improved loading and graphics)
6. The outfit (nice job run's quick loads quick)
7. lost planet extreme condition (Nice loading time faster saving not bad at all)
This is my list so far.
Who else has tried other games and what where the results.

you mean to tell me that loading the games to the HDD will display better graphics? I can't wait til 19th.

Every Game loads Better and alot Faster for me,I am running 8x Flash.
I am really enjoying the HD/Install option.

I'd installed the update but unfortunately i won't be home to test it just yet. I'm afraid i very much doubt that games would load slower than from an optical drive.
Admittedly i haven't yet looked into how the hard drives are physically connected but as i say, they can't possibly be slower, there'd have to be a bug in the beta NXE update(s)

Thats what i though that there was a bug still because halo took forever to load.
15 minutes
But i must admit i liked how it looked running off of the hard drive.

running GTA4 off the HD there is a slight improvement but really not much... there are still times when you're running in a building and objects just appear cause they were slow to load..
at least it preserves the DVD drive by not using it so much...

I've just installed Halo 3 to the hard drive (nice!) and am now running it from there.
As i suspected, no 15 minute load times here, the same or maybe a tad quicker loading than from DVD...

i did halo 3 as well, and i must say i am impressed with the load time. before i couldnt skip the intro M$ advertisement, but not i can. i love it!

Ok I can understand the improved speed of loading, but can't understand why in the world the graphics would have improved because it now loads off the HDD, that can't be right can it?

There was news a couple weeks back that this, in fact, was true. It's not going to improve every game.
Some games with hi texture resolutions and fast action scenes were not able to completely load all the textures when reading from the dvd drive. Reading from the hdd is much quicker and results in those textures being able to load.
Again, every single game will not automatically look better. Just some.

Ok that's good if that's true just seemed a little strange, I would have thought for games like that there would be some sort of buffer so its delayed a little to allow everything to load. Complete waste of a programmers/developers time other wise spending all that time creating a game and some of doesn't even load.

It just depends on how it's being played.
Say you go into a room, walk around and do what you got to do, everything appears fine. But if you go running balls-to-the-walls through the room, then some of the little details may be missed.

Has anyone tried to eject a game after you started playing off the harddrive? Does it allow you to keep playing it?
Second question? Has anyone tried to play from the harddrive on a unmodded console but with a backup disc in the drive?

Thats what I'm wondering as well. I have an unmodded console, so I'm just wondering if I could download my original copies to my hard drive, then use a burned copy to play after that.

That won't work because the only thing disk is in drive for is to check the authenticity. So its probably only checking the copyright, which from what i've gathered is the hologram in the center of the disk. When the console is modded the new firmware tells the drive to look elsewhere for this if it is not found, which will be stored elsewhere on the games image (either that or doesn't even require it). Not positive about this 100% though so maybe someone else who knows a little more could give a little insight as well.
