Updating from the leaked NXE???

Im sorry if this has been discussed before but I have been using the leaked version of the NXE for a couple of weeks now and I know that I cant get access to live because of the whole limited use of the leaked version. What my questions is, dose anyone know if Microsoft plan (or have done in the pass) to release a downloadable copy of the update on their website for those who are not using live? or would I best just try and connect tomorrow to see if I can, I know I will prob get banned but im hopping to get the propper NXE before the hammer hits me.
Thanks in advance for any advice that you guys can give.

The leaked version is just a legitimate copy from someone who got in to the early testing. That copy is the same thing as if he would have brought over his hard drive and plugged it in to your console.
So if there's anything new tomorrow, it'll only be a small update. You won't need to download the whole thing to get a legit copy.

i think it's better if u wait for the online version to come out so u can just download it off and burn it onto a cd. i dont think it's a very wise thing to update your dashboard through the lives ssince the whole ban hamming thing is going on. i am pretty sure people are working on a new firmware coming up pretty soon, probably firmware 1.50 or something. i think we can be considered lucky because by installing the leaked nxe, we had somewhat bypass the ban hammer. now it's just a matter of time when someone come out with a new firmware. hopefully it wil be soon.

I updated the NXE from a usb stick.

..i installed it ok, the new dashboard seemed fine, from what i'd read it seems to be the real deal, hadn't got as far as testing a retail game install as had to go out (and haven't been back home since). but i've bought half a dozen retail games and one of the days this week (after the 19th LOL) i'll be able to test the game installs.
I've never been on xbox live before but as i bought my console new it comes with a month live trial (gold i think) so i'll be able to test it properly in the week. What i might do is try and download the NXE update again via live (ie in case the downloaded copy isn't the final NXE after all), however everything i've read so far suggests it's the real deal but just that we have to wait 'til the 19th before going on live with it..
edit- i went on xbox live on the 19th and NXE was downloaded fine from xbox live along with the AVI update(s).

Hey creaky,
If you haven't set up your free month's Gold account yet, it can be a little tricky. They don't tell you right from the beginning that you have a free month.
What you have to do is set up a Silver account. It'll ask you, once or twice I believe, if you're sure you want Silver. Just keep selecting Yes. Then it'll state that you qualify for a free month of Gold.

Thanks guys.
I got the update via Usenet and installed it using the USB stick too but I guess that until we can go live on it on the 19th we dont get any features as its all live based anyway.
As for banning, MS have already got all the info they need on us if they want to ban us or not, just cos we havent been online dosent mean that we might not be banned yet. I just hope were not cos with all this new stuff Live is finaly something I want to keep.

i have a question, when you set your resolution to 1440 x 900, do u have a black bar on top and bottom of the screen. mine has it, it's very annoying. i have a 19 inches monitor widescreen. am curiuos if the rest of u guys have it as well.

sorry for double post, how do i set my native resolution?
i already tried looking it on torrentz, but they dont have the official version. all they have is the leaked version which i already have. i want to knw where i can download the official version. anyone?
