Hey guys i was able to update with animal crossing from 3.2 to 3.3 and then downgrade back to 3.2 remove the update and burn again and the game now works.

The question is, i figured there must be a wad along with the update that allows it to play because before i just got a black screen. Anyways heres a list of all the wads in the update.

IOS11-64-v10
IOS12-64-v6
IOS13-64-v10
IOS14-64-v257
IOS15-64-v257
IOS17-64-v512
IOS20-64-v12
IOS21-64-v514
IOS22-64-v772
IOS28-64-v1288
IOS30-64-v2576
IOS31-64-v2576
IOS33-64-v1040
IOS34-64-v1039
IOS35-64-v1040
IOS36-64-v1042
IOS37-64-v2070
IOS38-64-v3609

Anyone with knowledge of wad updates. Any clue which of these i would need to install to get animal crossing to work without updateing. I was assuming it would be one of the later ones 34-35-36 but im not brave enough to install wads.

Is the game a backup? I have a backup copy that was scrubbed and brick blocked, on 3.2U firmware, and it would give me a black screen on my 1.9s WiiKey. I was able to use 0.3 backup loader through the homebrew channel to load the game.

Yes the wiiscrubbed, brick blocked version is the one that now works. However i had to first update to 3.3 with the original unbrick blocked version and downgrade back to 3.2 and now it works. In other words the update doesnt just install 3.3 it installs the driver you need for the microphone attachment. The game cannot run without this driver and will give a black screen.

Now we just need to figure out which of the above wads is that microphone driver.

Ah... interesting. I wasn't aware of that. 3.3 blocks any Trucha signed discs (ie. scrubbed, brick blocked, etc.) and that's why it wasn't loading and you had to downgrade.

I couldn't load AC with 3.2 via 1.9s WiiKey, however, it was fine with latest HB Channel and backup loader. Hmm...

I'm interested in knowing which Wad is the Mic driver, as maybe it will load without using HB channel, which I would prefer.

Scrubbed and WiiBrickBlock Games are not trucha signed and are not the cause of the issue. The issue is the IOS needed to play the game. In order to install the correct IOS you need to update with the game disc or install it via a wad manager.

The IOS that works on the game is IOS38-64-v3609 which can be downloaded from a couple of places and installed with a wad manager to get past the black screen issue.

Could you explain how I could get it to work with Backup Launcher through HB Channel but not through the Wii System Menu? Is the HB Channel spoofing the IOS?

well im happy to learn how to load the said file, only 2 problems, no idea where to find the file and i havent a clue what your all talking about!! ;o) far too many acronyms for me. I can see a long night ahead reading up on wads and homebrew
fyi ive got 3.2e with a d2key and used a regionfrid and brickblocked ntsc ac backup ending in the blackscreen. as i never run homebrew (whatever that is) i could just do an online update to 3.4 that should sort it but most seem to be advising not to do this, why?

3.3 and above updates block trucha signed disc. Some region patcher's use this to sign the disc. So if you used a region patcher that trucha signs disc (or any other patcher that does) then the new updates will block them from loading.

Since you have 3.2E firmware and have a drivechip installing the Hombrew Channel will be easy. All you have to do is go HERE and read up on what the Homebrew Channel is used for. You can then go to the download section under the ISO self booting disc and download the_homebrew_channel-beta_8-iso-EUR.tar.gz and extract then burn the ISO to a disc like any backup game. Now load it and start it and it should install the homebrew channel for you.

Now you need an SD card to place the homebrew applications on so it shows in the Homebrew Channel menu. Format the SD card to FAT16 (default setting on PC). Then create a folder naming it apps and a folder naming it wad.

Now download wadmanager 1.3 is used to install wad files (you can get it HERE.

Now extract the file and copy the wadmanager folder to the apps folder on the SD card. So you would have a SD:/apps/wadmanager/boot.dol directory.

Now get the IOS38-64-v3609.wad file (can not link to this site) and place it in the wad folder. So you would have a SD:/wad/IOS38-64-v3609 directory.

Now place the SD Card into the Wii and launch the Homebrew Channel. When it the menu comes up choose wad manager in the list and it will launch it. Now choose IOS38-64-v3609.wad and press + on the WiiRemote and it will install the wad file. Now your Animal Crossing should work.

I extracted the wad from the original ISO (Has to be the one thats not brick blocked yet) to extract them you use wiiscrubber. The simpler way was to just upgrade with the disk and then downgrade back to 3.2. However keep in mind that i only downgrade back to 3.2 because i like 3.2 its not a neccessary step the game actually worked on 3.3 if you want to just do it that way it will work fine.

Howdy folks. I used WiiScrubber to get the "Mic Driver" wad and installed successfully with Wad Installer via HB Channel. Game fired up through Wii System Menu using 3.2 IOS and WiiKey 1.9s.

Thanks for the tip! I hadn't played around with the update wads much, but saw other stuff on there, like the Shop Channel and such, so I figured, what the hell, let's update some stuff. I'm still leery about going to 3.3 and I hear that 3.4 is even worse?

You need to WiiBrickBlock the City Folk ISO to get rid of the update.

So if you still have the City Folk ISO use WiiBrickBlocker on it and then re-burn.

If you do not have the City Folk ISO then re-rip the backup disc using ImgBurn READ MODE then use WiiBrickBlocker on the ripped ISO then re-burn it.
