I used the search, but couldn't find anything:

Is there a way to boot (is that the right term?) backups from a USB DVD drive? I just got my 360 last wednesday, and don't want to mod the console itself.

I am a noob >_>

well perhaps you should have searched a little bit longer as this has been asked/answered a million times.

if it was that easy to do this type of stuff you wouldnt need to search cause we would all be doing it. and if it was really that easy then why dont we just throw our consoles away and just rig some drive to play backups. screw the corporations we can just make our own machine that will run their games.

With the new dash you can install games on your HDD but you need a disc to play em :( it's much easier on your lens now though, ftw.

I know this lol (Have fallout 3 installed to Hdd), I was asking if it was possible to use an external usb dvd drive (with flashed firmware on IT instead of the console) to play backuped games.

But it isn't.

sorry if i was a dick but my point was if there was such an easy alternative then it would not be hard to find info on it cause we would all be doing it instead of risking taking our consoles apart and ruining our own 360 drives.

Not to be a dick my self, but I got your point LOUD and clear ;) xD

Yeah. I originally came to this site looking to mod my ps2, but now that I've got a 360... I want to mod it but at the same time I don't as I don't have the money to get another one if I should screw this one up.
