I have a soft-modded Wii that is 90% close to playing backup games. I use backup loader 0.1 and it runs the game but just before it runs the game the screen starts flashing and rolling (maybe a hertz problem). It starts the game while flashing and I cannot get it past the screen about the wrist strap. Is there something I should change in the config or is my problem else where.

First off you should upgrade to 0.3 Gamma which is the latest backup launcher and the most game compatible.

As of the scrolling black screen issue. You should be able to force NTSC and it should fix the issue. (I have no idea if version 0.1 has that option).

If you want to update you will need to uninstall all previous cIOS and xDVD then install the newest cIOS (that is all that is needed). If you use the Wii as a DVD player you can then install xDVD again but it is not required with the new loader.

For all the files and steps you need go HERE.

Alright so after a crazy day. I decided to do something stupid. I changed the video display to PAL and it made my situation so much worse it isn't funny. I took a picture of the TV screen and got the video back to normal but realized the game is a PAL and I have a NTSC Wii. So the game is booting from the channel correctly but it is the video mode that has to change somehow. I tried to boot it while forcing the PAL but it said no SD codes. If there are some codes somewhere for the SD card I would be grateful if anyone knew where the codes were. now i know to get NTSC games instead of PAL

EDIT: Is there an ISO converter from PAL to NTSC

Did I say to force PAL?

No I said FORCE NTSC which means it will force the PAL game to boot in NTSC.

The SD CODES are cheat codes they are not mandatory to have.

Guess I missed the part about FORCING NTSC and I will give it a try.
You were correct about upgrading to other backup loaders, I could use the wiimote this time when the screen was flashing. Before it was just a picture with no control.

it failed yet again, I get green screens for gator and a code dump for another loader and for another it continually tried to load some part that doesn't load. It is ok though I now know to just not play PAL games on my NTSC console and TV. Thanks for all the help.

Try 1 more thing.

When WiiGator launches before selecting anything at all press the B button on the WiiMote. It should then reset with hooks set and let you boot via normal Disc Channel. After it reboots go to the normal Disc Channel and try launching the game from there.
