Everytime I attempt to import a video clip (DivX encoded .avi) the program crashes...
I have installed the latest TMPGEnc Plus 2.5 and the latest DivX codecs. The error message that comes up is a windows crash error report. There isn't much information I can give.
If anyone else has experienced this, or knows of a solution; PLEASE help me!

My memory is totally fine. I really doubt it is a hardware issue.
What sort of info do you need from the error report? It just looks like a load of junk to me.

Open up the Event Viewer.
Look at both "application" and "system".
As you select one, on the right side, you'll see the events
sorted by date. Scroll down to the date and time you had the error.
Anything there?
What program is mentioned in the windows crash report?

If you are using windows xp try this (it will disable thumbnail on all video files which has been known to cause crashes).
Windows XP:
Start -> Run... and type regsvr32 /u shmedia.dll Press enter. Done. It's as simple as that. If you, for some reason want it back, simply do the same thing again, but remove the "/u". That is:
Start -> Run... regsvr32 shmedia.dll
This will only disable movie thumbnails/previews, not picture thumbnails.

Tried what you said Jony but the crash still occurs!
As for event log errors etc,
In applications theres an error:
Faulting application tmpgencdvdauthor3.exe, version 3.1.1.174, faulting module ffdshow.ax, version 1.0.0.1, fault address 0x001d044a.

0058: 64 30 34 34 61 0d 0a d044a..
Nothing else at the time of the crash.
Not sure if you can deduce anything from the report! I tried downloading the new trial version of TMPG Authoring Works 4 and the same error occurs! Hmm. Could it be some sort of codec conflict? I'm afraid my knowledge is limited :(
Any help is appreciated!
Edit: Here is the crash report for the trial:
Faulting application tmpgencauthoringworks4trial.exe, version 4.0.0.9, faulting module ffdshow.ax, version 1.0.0.1, fault address 0x001d0445.
What is module ffdshow.ax?
