I know that Talismoon's website claims their whisper fans provide 58% more airflow through the 360. I am wondering if anyone here on aD can verify this or is this just advertising bs? Cause if its legit I'm gona install them I just dont wana waste my money....thanks in advance.

It's something rediculous like that, but if you want to save money you can just cut the metal grill near the back of the fans. I'm sure that just that little mod will double the airflow. The only drawback is that your fans are going to be louder because there is no restriction between them and the outside of the case.

Here's the first 360 that i cut.

I decided to leave the middle to keep the metal part that keeps the fan in place a bit stronger. On my elite i cut the whole thing out, and it really didn't matter. The only drawback is that you have to bend the metal top back down to keep the fan in the right spot.

I've been doing a few cooling tests and posting my results.

Here they are

And here's a vid of my elite running

If you have any questions just ask

Thanks great info guys.

Are you saying the talismoon whisper fans are alot louder than stock?

@C4RN1
So i read through all that info you gathered, great job. But I am confused about something maby you can clear it up for me. Is it a good idea to cut out the holes on the sides of the metal casing (near the dvd drive and hdd plug) like you did with the back near the fans?

Well you could cut it but it isn't necessary, and it will also make the case weaker and easier to bend.

The whisper fan is quieter than the stock delta fans (that's why they're named "whisper").

here's the specs

Specifications
(behind are the standard Xbox 360 fan specifications)

DC Power: 12V (at 5v)- Original Fan: 12V (at 5v)
Current: 160mA - Original Fan: 250mA
Speed: 4100RPM - Original Fan: 4600RPM
Air flow: 46CFM - Original Fan: 29CFM
Loudness: 38d(B)a - Original Fan: 41d(B)a

I've bought well over 20 of these and haven't had a loud one yet. I mean think about it after you cut out that fan grill there's nothing keeping the noise in. Even the stock fan is loud with the metal grill cut out.

If you look at the specs it's not much quieter than the original fan but look at the airflow stats.

I'll be buying another couple fans pretty soon, you really can't go wrong with the whisper fan.

OK well thanks agian for helpin me out with this stuff. Im gona go ahead and do the talismoon whisper fan upgrade to get some more airflow in my box.

BTW: I just opened up my 360 last night and to my supprise there is a copper tube coming off the gpu heat sync that is attached into a radiator block right behind the dvd drive. This copper tube is filled with some sort of coolant because it is always cold to the touch even with the system off. :) I guess this is how Microshaft has fixed the heating problem.....yay

Actually i used some wirecutters and just took my time. I used needle-nose pliars to bend the sharp edges in towards the fan. I figured if someone else took the xbox apart i wouldn't want them getting cut up by the sharp edges.

This was the first 360 i cut, my elite looks a lot cleaner. I'll probably buy a cutting wheel for my dremel so i can make it a bit cleaner in the future. Either way wire cutters do the trick if you're patient.
